Sooo busy.

I've been up to quite a bit over the extended weekend. So much that I'm taking time out of my busy workday to journal it all. Isn't that special? ;)

Thursday: Went with my friend Jamie to see A New Brain, performed by a newer stage company called Transit Five. I was SO very excited to see this show, and it stunk. The material was great -- I had already memorized the music -- but the cast was young and inexperienced, and sounded like stage actors performing a musical. The instrumentalists were not together. And the sightlines were bad for short people. All in all, two thumbs down.

Friday-Sunday: After getting my oil changed, filling up with gas, going to Staples, and the grocery store, I started the five-hour drive up to Chicago. This was my third annual trip for Market Days, with the bonus of seeing mikiedoggie and a host of friends from and visiting Chicago. Mike is a great host (despite evidence to the contrary) and always makes sure I have a fantastic time. This year I did NOT get burned to a crisp, which was a very pleasant change. It was super-hot, but welcome to the midwest in August. The festival itself? Eh... a little tired. But we had some great food, saw lots of friends and met new ones (SO glad I finally got to meet shoehorn75 and his bf), caught a White Sox game filled with more distractions than Disney World, totally screwed up my diet for the week (yay Monday morning reset!), chilled at a birthday/housewarming party (thanks murphy and meatybear), and made it home just before 10:30 Sunday night. Sounds like a lot, eh? Oh how I love packing in the activity ;) Mike has terrific pictures and such as usual on his Flickr.

Monday: I'm SO glad I took Monday off to read 300 LJ postings, catch up on e-mail, and chill out for a few hours. I caught a matinee of Once at the Esquire, made some DELICIOUS (and WW-core) "Summer Corn, Bacon and Potato Chowder" for dinner, and headed out to Cleves for the gay softball night featuring our favorite catcher kybearfuzz. They played two games -- they creamed the other team in the first game, but the second was a nail-biter. They came from behind and pulled ahead in the last few innings -- it was a really exciting game and I'm glad I stayed for it!
