Budget Woes

Well, it's official - we're in a budget crisis (link)"Unclassified and unrepresented employees will not receive salary increases in the next fiscal year. While the university’s generous healthcare program remains largely intact, UC may move to a self-funded system. You know, working for a state agency isn't all its cracked up to be. Where else can you work your ass off, be told you are doing a great job, then have your pay cut.

Aren't State Universities fun?

I can tell you that when I started here I had to tack on an additional 28.65% of Personnel costs to cover the fringe benefits. Last year it went up to 33.88% and this year, they're expecting it to go up to 37.89%.

All this, and our funding is getting a reduction.

Nope, I'm actually one of two IT staff members for University Health Services. Most of the major departments at UC have their own "decentralized" IT coordinators, but UCit still manages the physical network lines.

And you thought the 2 degree tempeture increase was bad! Wonder what kind of buy out i can get with 3.5 years of service? Can't you through your newly appointed Presidential title around and gets some breaks for us?
