Oscar notes
Crash is far from a perfect film. Then again, I can say the same for Brokeback Mountain. I thought it was a tossup between all the best-picture nominees, actually (except for Munich, which I haven't seen). I personally enjoyed Crash quite a bit. Perhaps a bit heavy-handed, but it's a movie. Subtlety is for poets.
Definite disappointment that Felicity Huffman didn't win Best Actress. I adore Reese Witherspoon and she was wonderful in a wonderful movie, but Felicity had a better performance, hands-down.
I think last night was my first Oscars party. I don't usually get much into awards shows. But how could I pass up furry-chested gay cowboys offering Jell-O shots? Super-fun. I believe we raised a few hundred dollars for CMC as well, with very minimal effort.
But I am TIRED this morning. I have a Board meeting tonight, then I'm SO going to bed early.
Where are the singers?
This morning as I was looking over The Weekly - our GLBT "what's up this week" e-mail - I noticed that there is one night with 4 separate bars offering Karaoke nights. Another night has 3. If there are truly enough singers to fill these joints, they need to join CMC. Seriously.
