I don't know what I did right this year, but I got SIX STORIES for Yuletide this year, and they were all amazing!
Heaven's coins is an amazing A Christmas Carol fic which is set post-canon, when Scrooge and Marley meet again as ghosts. Their prickly friendship is amazing here, and I loved where the author went with the idea of what happens after Scrooge dies. (1550 words)
The First Ghost is a melancholy A Christmas Carol drabble from Scrooge's POV post-canon but before he dies, and his thoughts on Marley and his suffering. I really also like the idea of how important Christmas would be for Scrooge every year afterwards, because of course it would be! (100 words)
Trompement is the 18th Century Fencers fic I didn't think ANYONE WOULD WRITE EVER, oh my god. It is a modern AU that takes on the first and last fencing matches between d'Eon and Saint-Georges. I loved how the author translated d'Eon's transition into modern day, and also Saint-Georges's life, and it's just an amazing story. (1657 words)
Hells and Paradoxes is a wonderfully intricate Doctor Faustus fic set post-canon, in which we see Faustus's very personal hell. The writing style in this story is beautiful, and I loved the concepts of hell in this story, along with everything about Mephistopheles and his interactions with Faustus. (1051 words)
Reflection is a lovely Man of La Mancha fic set post-canon, about Aldonza and Sancho on one of their adventures. It's also a slow romance between Aldonza and another tavern woman she meets, and it's just beautiful. I love Aldonza's voice in this, infected by Don Quixote's optimism but still clearly herself and more clear-sighted than he was. (1182 words)
Aldonza is a clever Man of La Mancha song, which takes "To Each His Dulcinea" and reprises it for Aldonza, who sings about "To each her Don Quixote" and now I am forever going to wish that reprise had happened in the show because it's great. (129 words)
