Do the Queue Part 2!

Despite Rogue Events' extreme lack of any form of organizational skills, I managed to have an awesome weekend at A7! Going to the con was a last minute decision, but I definitely think it was a good one. I just wish it had lasted a few more days! (Although I would quite possibly be dead from exhaustion now if that was the case.)

Friday started with an extremely epic wander around Birmingham city centre as we tried to find some place to eat before hitting up the con. The hotel the con is in only has a few restaurants and they're all pretty overpriced and crappy so we thought eating before heading over was the way to go. Unfortunately, Birmingham city centre has nothing but chain restaurants so after wandering around looking for a nice Indian or Chinese place we were finally forced to go to a chain pie place which was actually pretty good, if overpriced. As a result of our sight-seeing experience we ended up arriving a bit later than most people to the con which was actually a good thing as we only had to wait an hour and a half to get registered as opposed to the four hours that some people did. Here's a picture of the massive line we were in -

The worst part about that line was that when we got to the front, we were given some numbers and told we had to come back in the morning and queue again in order to get our badges. Definitely not what we wanted to hear as we were very tired at that point. Luckily we were well-fortified with supplies for that weekend so we managed to perk up a bit back in the room -

We then went over to hils's room and hung out with them for a bit. I got to meet many nice people and this amazing Castiel!bear -

We then headed to the party. The theme for the first night was characters from SPN. I was going as a vampire from the Twilight episode which was basically just an excuse to wear my corset. Unfortunately, all of my pictures from that night ended up blurry, but let's just say a large amount of vodka was consumed thanks to takadainmate and her trusty hip flask.

The next morning we ended up oversleeping because our alarm didn't go off, but in the end I think it was for the best as we managed to register, eat breakfast, and make it to the opening ceremonies on time. Misha's panel was first and it was definitely a good way to start. He seemed to be in a very good mood and looked like he had a lot of fun playing around with the guests. -

His outfit that day looked like something that Castiel would wear in The End. Anyway, I don't remember much from that panel other than that it was hilarious and he was definitely on form. He did get asked an amusing (and cringe-worth) question about if he preferred Destiel or Wincest. He went on a bit about Kirk/Spock which I missed, but I did film a bit of his reaction afterwards where he talked about how surprised he was at the positive reaction to the question from con-goers. It's over here on youtube. After that was Rob Benedict (who plays Chuck)'s panel.

He came across as adorably innocent. The most amusing question was when someone asked him what the weirdest photo op pose he had been asked for was and he said that it was when Misha humped him from behind. He then started blushing which was extremely adorable. After him was Julian Richings (who plays Death on the show). He was awesome! Super super nice and extremely outgoing and friendly. He kept talking about how much he liked Jensen and how much chemistry Death had with Dean, which was a theme that was continued in the Coffee Lounge with him we went to.

Next up was Mitch Pileggi who I was excited to hear being a long time X-Files fan. The most interesting part of his panel was when he talked about how he didn't really understand Samuel Winchester's motivation or where the writers were going with him. He also brought up the fact that it was kind of creepy that Samuel Winchester chose to bring back his daughter Mary instead of his wife, which I know a lot of people had commented on. It definitely sounds like the writers didn't have any idea where they were going with his character.

The last panel of the day was the three women, Amy Gumenick who plays young Mary Winchester, Lindsey McKeon who plays Tessa, and Katie Walder who plays Fate. They were all extremely awesome! Amy was super friendly and outgoing. You can tell she definitely enjoys going to cons. Lindsey was kind of more serious and hard-core and Katie was sweet and bubbly, kind of the opposite of the character she plays. They all seemed to have quite the thing for Jensen. (understandable) XD

That night we were quite tired and hungover, but managed to perk up with a bit of swimming in the hotel pool as we watched people line up for the meet and greet. It was amusing seeing all the guests come in and Rob arrive late as he attempted to eat a sandwich. After that we had dinner at the overpriced hotel bar and got ready for the western-themed party. Oh, and also somewhere in there we watched the spn episode with littlehollyleaf and a few other people. It's always so fun to watch in a group!

I was dressed up as a western-style preacher who was preaching Castianity. Of course I had to carry around my precious gospel -

takadainmate and I reading the holy gospel -

I also had Castianity business cards that I handed out to convert people. XD We kind of took it easy on the drinking that night after our extreme night on Friday. At some point during the night we also considered crashing the other con party being held in the hotel where they had the DeLorean from Back to the Future.

Sunday is kind of a blur, but the highlight was definitely Misha's panel and Julian's Coffee Lounge. Some pics -

Misha called a few people on stage who were having a birthday that day. He was so cute interacting with the kid!

Misha was a bit more subdued at his panel on Sunday. He told a really sweet story about when he and his wife got engaged and kept tearing up. It was adorable! I also got a video of littlehollyleaf asking a question about if he was coming back. It's over here on youtube.

We also spent a lot of time on Sunday queueing for autographs since we didn't manage to get any on Saturday. We had to be a bit sneaky since they didn't really want us in the line, but we managed to get them in the end. And now I am sadly back at home, but at least I have pretty con pics to look at!
