So I finally finished the fifth Hairy Potter book and I have to say that my contempt for Hairy has grown even more... what a git. If not for Fred and George along with Hermione I doubt I would very much like the books as much as I do. I'm saying what I said... that HaIry is a git, that Umbridge should have got hers in the end and didn't, and that with a little INTELLIGENCE on his part (HaIry's), he could have saved his Godfather. But I understand that Rowlings wanted him to be an orphan, still, and that is why it turned out the way it did in the end. I also feel that she should have done a better job at explaining the dias, the archway, and the lore that explains why Sirius is no longer among the living.

As for the other comments... I like the series for similar reasons. I do feel, however, that Rowlings has a tendency to spend a great deal of time developing characters and events in the biggining of the book, but rushes to a close in the end. I feel that the last three books have ended rather abruptly.

What your last comment has to do with what I said I'm not sure, but the books are a far less detrimental escape than other means of entertainment offered by the human world. Television is far more dangerous for vicarious living, or even the internet for that matter. I can assure you though, that I am still quite adventurous.
