So I just came up with the perfect response for the stupid idiotic statements and questions poised to us as electronic music enthusists. Proper phrasing will be tricky to deliver in a work environment or to people so they aren't super sure you're talking down to them, but here it goes...
"Study shows that only highly evolved minds can understand and appreciate the subtle and beautiful complexity of electronic music - or as you labled it, 'techno'"
Examples of use in conversation:
Q: "Why do you like techno its just the same thing over and over?"
A: "Well, they say people who like 'electronic' music have highly evolved brains - maybe I do and that's why."
A: "As I understand it, it takes a highly evolved and sophisticated brain to understand the complexity of electronic music. *shrug*"
Or any variation there in... LOL =D
