Though this time, it was not because of a late schedule or anything like that, but a meeting this morning that took up an hour, essentially, it was a meeting to spell out where our boss is, and how he got the job and what his expectations are, and in that conversation, found out that he was NOT given much in the way of expectations and barely sees his boss as she almost never comes here and I think his boss is our integrated account manager, whom oversees the account/site.
A lot of frustrations have been bandied about as to morale of the team, the frustrations of how the site is being treated (essentially almost ignored) by the corporate office for the NW region. And what I see, and several others have noted too is the culture of the NW region offices, it's the same broken culture that has existed before it was bought out so much of the same people remain, such as our old boss whom no one has good things to say about.Oh he's nice enough, but very much a blowhard and NOT a leader of any description and much of the issues stemmed from him - and up.
Also, the fact that the scope of work is creeping up slowly for the site, but our pay barely keeps pace with cost of living/inflation. Plus there are issues with the site itself, the clients we work for, a lack of communication for a communications company and a lot of reading of minds, while I can be good at, I should not have to read other people's mind, plus many people simply don't want to use their noggins for anything of significance, or so it seems.
Anyway, David had the biggest tangent going of all of us, as he's been between a rock and a hard place as our site supervisor. He sort of fell into the position, but at the time, he was not trained in many areas, but was kind of sort of trained in other areas, but not given authority to order people to do what needs to be done as Tim, our old boss didn't want to relinquish control. Not that Tim micromanaged, but he simply didn't do much of anything, other than all the necessary paperwork to keep things on the up and up. Anyway, Tony gave David the reigns to order people to do things and other responsibilities and helped David to learn other things he was never taught so he can do his job better - and even Tony has seen how our employer works (not good) and is frustrated and has had to find things out for himself about how things are done, the culture of the place etc.
It was a very good meeting overall. The rest of the day went well and we got fed lunch! One of the teams that takes the time to feed us periodically fed us Mexican food from Qdoba today. it was actually pretty decent stuff! Hey, we're all about the free food around the joint since we're so poor.
It stayed largely dry today, though some mild spritzing rain occurred during the afternoon for a time, but otherwise, it just stayed damp and cold, low to mid 40's all day, but felt colder than it actually was due to the cold air.
Came close to bringing Chad home tonight but ended up not needing to so drove home in the heavy traffic.
A quick stop at the grocery store after getting home was necessary as I was out of coffee and lunch meat and bought a steamer bowl to nuke and that was dinner.
got my ink yesterday at work, and the printer is back in operation as I not only ran out of black ink, but used up the ink in the printer tube that goes from the cartridge to the carriage head was also low on ink as the printer has to keep it not only primed, but from drying out, which is why you should shut if off, but I find I've not had any problems with it even though I shut if off at the power strip, rather than at the power switch and so far, no dried out inks.
The ink cartridges I bought are the genuine Epson inks and all are the high capacity ones too so I can print up over 500 pages per cartridge of high quality high definition Claria inks, a solvent based inkjet ink that is much more durable than the water based inks found in most other inkjet printers. it is this ink, and other factors that makes Epson the go-to brand for professional graphic designers and photographers the world over for many inkjet applications. The only issue I had with the ink was when I installed the black cartridge, it didn't snap down all the way initially and thus was not seen by the printer, but a reseat, and it went fully in with a click and worked fine after that. Then the Magenta went out as I calibrated and cleaned the printer so had to immediately replace that, good thing too as it, and the cyan I think, are the two that often go the most quickly, though I've already replace most of the other inks since the fall of 2009. At least each color is a separate cartridge, so that helps with ink usage considerably. Now with the proper paper on hand, I can resume printing up CD artwork and photos as need be but first, gotta get the paper before I can do anything of the sort.
Tonight I didn't do much but be online and write up a review for the Escali Arti scale I bought from Amazon last January as one of the items I've bought, but not reviewed as yet.
And so with that, it's now bed time so I will go get ready for it and thus call it a night.
