And what a day yesterday was. A long day, as I was up by 6:15AM and didn't get to bed until 10:30 or so.
Got to the church early and Ellen and her family were next, then Sal, then the rest showed up shortly afterwards to help setup for the memorial service.
I was right on the edge emotionally for much of the setup, and it spilled over at times during the service. It was a beautiful service all told. More on that in a separate post.
Then it was see many parishioners I'd known for years at the reception downstairs, and other close family/friends along with my good friend Doug, who came, I believe in solidarity for me as that's the kind of guy he was, not seen him since 2006, and almost didn't recognize him at first as he's just a bit older now. :-)
Anyway, was not very sociable during the reception as I was emotionally tapped out but recovered in time to get to Olympia for the post memorial party and left there around 9:30 and drove to Tacoma where I stayed with my buddy David in their guest room, slept well there, got up, made coffee and sat and read in a magazine while enjoying my cup of Joe in the morning quiet in their family room with the lamp on nearby. Eventually, I had breakfast, cereal and toast and chatted with Amy for a bit after David headed off to church. Amy and Andrew, their 8 YO son headed off to do errands, I did the dishes and took my shower, made the bed up and left there by 11:20AM or so and came on home.
Had lunch and now a nap is in order. If still dry after my nap, I'll dispose of recycling and work on the kitchen floor. I had less dirty dishes stacked all over yon, but had a dirtier floor though. The whole kitchen just needs to be cleaned good with ammonia and water solution from top to bottom as it's pretty dirty in that regard, that includes the cabinets, and walls, and floor and pulling out the fridge and stove and getting under and behind each while at it. It's over due by a country mile. I will do the major areas, but when it comes time to move out, it won't be as bad to do then, I hope anyway.
Other than that, I'm OK, had a dream that involved me driving something akin to an old Ford with column automatic shifter, bad brakes and a transmission that required I put it in reverse, then drive in order to get it to go from a stop, then I was in a large office building where 2 floors that were empty, but were in the process of being redone and then I wound myself walking under a covered causeway with my friend, I think and talking on my cell phone with his brother Dan, who was telling me that now that Mom's gone, that I had better enjoy the time I have left as their friendship will splinter or words to that effect, and then he stopped talking but was still connected, and all I heard was the sound of the TV on the other end in the background, dream ends. It occurred in the wee hours of the morning, I think after I'd gone to the potty at 3am (clock by my bed was still saying 4AM as it hadn't been turned back before I went to bed). Overall though, I slept well last night.
