Yes, after a bit of a slow start, I finally got off my ass and began to make the dough to chill around noontime and while at it, cooked the wild rice, which doing it like the instructions, it came out VERY nice this time around and NOT overly chewy either and MUCH less salty too.
Then came in here to try and work on resume stuff, but a nap became necessary and then TRIED to work on resume/job search stuff to no avail and before I knew it, I HAD to make a quick run to the store for a couple of things I HAD to have, salad stuff, butter being the 2 main things and came back to begin working on preparing the ravioli for cooking, which meant I had to cut up and saute the mushrooms which I sliced thinly and then ran through my food chopper briefly to break into small pieces and add to the saute pan with olive oil and a pinch of salt to bring out the water within and when they were cooked some, I added some of the rice and continued to cook for a few more minutes and while that took place, I grated some parm cheese to use as both a flavoring agent and as a binder of sorts, tossed into the mixture at the end, tossing good and took off the heat into a bowl to cool a bit while I rolled out the dough.
Once rolled out 2 rectangles, more or less, I then put a dollop of the stuffing mixture onto one of the rectangles, leaving some room for an egg wash in between each dollop and around the edges and then placed the other piece on top, pressing down around the edges and the middle areas and then cut with the serrated edge of the pasta cutting tool and placed on a cookie sheet lined with a towel to dry out a little (to make it easier to handle) and then boiled them for 3-5 minutes total and tossed into the pan with some butter and herbs.
It was tasty!
I'm rather proud of myself for my first efforts at homemade pasta making, and ravioli at that! They didn't look fabulous, nor did they all seal properly, but hey, they didn't kill me and were quite good. The lemon juice was a good idea, but probably could've used the zest of the lemon as well (yes, I have a zester) but didn't think about it until WAY too late, oh well.
So without further ado, with a salad, that was my meal.
Look delish, no?
Anyway, got that all done and eaten, the floor and the area right outside the kitchen vacuumed as I broke a wine glass earlier making the pasta dough and found a shard in the carpet and hit the bathroom with my dustbuster, but sadly, the switch is going on that so I may have to replace that before long.
And while I was finishing up my dinner, Walt the apt manager and Amy Huff who helps manage the property for the management company came to look at my door. At one time, someone I think broke into the unit, breaking out part of the hardwood edging and the plunger that latches the door closed from the original door knob but had a working deadbolt so when Mike my original apt manager fixed the door, he did a hack job by covering up the hole from the original knob, drilling a new one, adding a brass knob and matching deadbolt with metal edging to help secure the door and ever since then, the deadbolt never has never properly lined up with the strike plate without some wiggling of the door before it would go in - and it required the use of a key from BOTH side to use so I just turned the lock knob on the doorknob to lock the door and pulled it shut. Well, last year the center stack units had plumbing work done to deal with a severe lack of water pressure and the plumbing company accidentally lost the main access key so EVERYONE, including all exterior doors got rekeyed and mine, along with at least one other unit had to have BOTH the deadbolt and doorknob replaced due to the inability of them to be rekeyed.
I tried to fix it so the door would properly shut, but a crack developed on the outside of the door, which now prevents the doorknob from latching on its own (though I can still lock with the deadbolt, still have to jiggle, but I CAN still lock the door). So now I get a PROPER working door finally.
I still have to put in a repair/cleaning request. The kitchen light fixture, which I like has one head that doesn't work at all and I could stand to have my carpet cleaned, the major pathways anyway as it needs it and when I move out, having been in here almost 8 years, the place will need a total going over with paint, carpet and stuff as needed and I more than likely won't be dinged for any of it as I've been here long enough to require it one way or the other even if I took care of it.
All that before a gent came over for our first meetup and such, we had fun and got off and by 10:15, he headed home as he has to work (I'm off today, go back to work tomorrow) and that was nice.
Today, I plan on working on job/resume stuff MUCH of the day so without further ado, gonna hit the shower and have at it!
