Isis - Wavering Radiant / Mastodon - Crack the Skye
Why am I reviewing these two albums together? Because they both sound the same to me. I'm sorry it's just that the second the double bass kicks in and some Nordic-sounding man starts growling unintelligibly in a false baritone, my brain shuts off and I stop paying attention. It's like when somebody starts talking about Jesus...there are just certain triggers that make me stop caring immediately. The various conceits of Metal / Nu-Metal / Post-Metal / Whatever are among those triggers.
