7.10 Thoughts Calzone
I am so so glad the reason Arizona is back is because her love for Callie is too great. That is the only reason it could have been had they ever wanted to repair their relationship. Otherwise it would have been an 'oh im back in town' relationship of convienience.
Her speech at the end was heartbreaking, and her face as Callie shut the door? Oh my god. Like it was obvious she had cried so much there was barely anything left, but that door just started her off again.
But really, about the speech. I still think Arizona has issues with admitting she was in the wrong about choosing to leave and ditching Callie. Her speech kinda reminded me of Mr Darcy in Pride and Prejudice in his first proposal to Elizabeth: 'I love you even though its against every principle I uphold dear. I love you so much that it has become goddamn inconvienient because I was so happy in Africa and now I have to come back because I just love you so much."
This appeals to AZ because it really is romantic for her and is a revelation that she is just out of control when it comes to Callie. It is a major character development for her, but she is fighting it all along. She wants to retain her independence, where Callie wants a partnership. Az is saying 'its damned annoying, but I have found out i love you beyond rhyme or reason and im back, so take me.'
Callie was 100% in the right to shut the door in her face. There was definitely no apology in all of that, and poor AZ had it all romantic but she said it backwards, poor dear. Callie loves her so much, that after az had finished her speech, you could see she just loved her and just felt so sorry for her, because az hasnt yet come to terms with her decision to return. Callie is like she said awesome, and deserves someone who wants to be with her, not has to be with her because it makes them sane. That is not a good enough offer for her. Again with Pride and Prejudice in Bridget Jones when Hugh Grant is like, "i need you because you make me a better person" and briget was like "that isnt a good enough offer for me."
I love that there are so many P&P parallels. Just means in the long run that they are made for each other.
mmm....and wet!Callie and raspy!Arizona. dwelling on this. Callie is way cute in the shower. There needs to be more of these scenes, preferably with AZ. Shes been on a plane, right? She probably needs one and all. fanfic me this, plz.
In other news, Im pretty glad my ffic was sort of along those lines: Az comes back still thinking her decision was right, but her love was too great, Callie is gonna make her work for it. hiatus eh?
