"The school library? Why are we here? It's lunch time, for fuck's sake," complained Kyuhyun, even pouting a little. It was still Tuesday and lunch time, and the school library Kyuhyun was the last place he wanted to be spending this precious hour. He had a feeling this was one of Eunhyuk and Donghae's 'fantastic' plans.
Shindong shushed him. "Dude. Sssh," he whispered. "Every Tuesday, Sungmin comes here to study. He actually cares about his grades and is intelligent, sort of like you used to be a few months ago before you became all lazy and reticent. Remember, the days where you used to get enough sleep?" He reminded him, mockingly. "Sungmin likes brainy guys."
Those days, Kyuhyun had been claiming he hadn't been getting enough sleep, hence his poor performance in class and exams. But really, during classes he'd only be daydreaming about Sungmin and what it'd be like to hold that sexy body close to his, place chaste kisses against those oh so wonderful lips and have his hands intertwined in Sungmin's pretty own. He did get quite a decent amount of sleep, but loads of those nights consisted of very inappropriate, yet highly arousing dreams about Sungmin, but he wasn't going to tell his friends that. No, of course not.
"Okay," Kyuhyun whispered back. "So what do I have to do then?"
Shindong thought for a brief moment before replying. "Walk up to him and say 'Hey'."
"Hey?" Kyuhyun asked.
Shindong nodded. "Yes. Hey," he said. "Say that, and then slowly walk away."
Kyuhyun stared at his friend as if he had suddenly grown another nose. "But-"
"Just do it!" Shindong snapped, but in a whisper.
"Okaay.." replied Kyuhyun, spooked out. He made sure to give his friend another weird look before making his way towards the beautiful boy he fancied so much. When he reached Sungmin's table, he stopped for a moment and smiled. "Hey," he said, in a hushed tone.
"Oh. Em, hello," replied Sungmin, politely, while smiling. There was a slight laugh present in his speech. He hadn't been expecting anyone he barely knew to approach him and greet him so warmly, but he was glad, nevertheless.
Kyuhyun nodded and walked away, lingering in his steps like Shindong had ordered him to. By the way, the person who had advised Kyuhyun to do this was hiding behind a few shelves, smiling to himself as he observed excitedly.
Kyuhyun heard someone whisper 'Excuse me!' loudly as he was turned around. Was that Sungmin? Nah, it's couldn't have been. He spun around to check if it was being directed at him; and he really hoped it was, he didn't like the idea of looking like a fool in front of his sexy crush. When he did turn around, he saw Sungmin smiling at him a bit.
"Me? D-did you just call me?" He asked, and braced himself for the worst. What if it wasn't being directed at him? What if it wasn't even Sungmin speaking? He was doomed!
To his relief, Sungmin nodded and beckoned the other over. Kyuhyun casually walked towards him, but inside he was practically bursting with excitement and anticipation, little sparks erupted at the tips of his toes.
"Yes?" Kyuhyun asked, face expectant.
"Why did you say hello to me and then just walk away?" Sungmin asked, tilting his head to side adorably.
Kyuhyun looked at him and shrugged. "Dunno. Felt like it."
"Oh.." Sungmin looked down at his lap and chewed on his bottom lip, looking quite thoughtful. "Your name is Kyuhyun, right..? You're Eunhyuk's best friend! Um, would you mind helping me with something?"
"Yep, that's my name," he replied. Holy fuck, he knows my name! How? Oh my god! "Depends. What do you need help with?" Remember Kyuhyun, calm and collected.
Sungmin smiled, charmingly. "Since you're probably the only person here not actually reading a book, would you mind helping me prepare for this small exam I have today? My friends are all busy."
Kyuhyun was quite taken aback. Shindong was completely right, Sungmin did care a lot about his grades. "Hmm. Okay then.."
Sungmin clapped his hands together, cutely. "Yay, have a seat," he whispered, and Kyuhyun did. "All you have to do is skim read through the paragraph and ask me random questions that are relevant to the topic."
"Oh.. sounds easy," said Kyuhyun, grinning.
Sungmin laughed quietly. "Cool, and remember to whisper," he whispered himself while putting his hand to the side of his mouth to emphasise the fact he was trying to stay quiet.
"Who's your History teacher?" Kyuhyun asked, nervously making small talk before he began helping Sungmin revise important historical facts and information. Kyuhyun's heart was pretty much in his throat.
"Oh. Mr. Gwak," Sungmin said, and Kyuhyun watched as he slightly grimaced. He chuckled quietly to himself, and Sungmin laughed along in a hushed tone.
Kyuhyun snickered. "Oh man. The dude spits... I have him for Biology and em... yeah. He spits. A lot."
Sungmin brought his hand up to his mouth to smother his laugh and the other observed this, while grinning along. He noted the way Sungmin's fox-like eyes squinted beautifully as he laughed. Quite frankly, Kyuhyun thought it was one of the most prettiest sights he had ever seen. Well, overall, Sungmin was probably the most gorgeous person he'd ever came across.
Kyuhyun began wondering about his newfound self-control. He was talking to Lee Sungmin, an absolute pretty boy he'd been crushing on ever since his previous year at school. The crush started out small, with Kyuhyun's heart skipping a beat everytime he spotted Sungmin in the hallways and gradually developed into something larger. The boy had no clue how he had the wisdom to resist leaning over the table, grabbing Sungmin's face and showering it with sloppy, hasty kisses. He really didn't.
"Ha! I know, I thought that only existed in movies and tv shows. But he actually splutters on top of people's tables. Too bad, though. He's actually a really great teacher and if only people could overlook his... saliva issues... even though it's extremely hard to - then they'd realize what a great teacher he is."
Kyuhyun slightly nodded in agreement. "Should I begin testing you?"
Sungmin nodded, eagerly. A little too eagerly.
Kyuhyun nodded again (then he decided he should really quit nodding so much around Sungmin) and skimmed through the first paragraph, easily forming a question relevant to the previously read text. He asked Sungmin a question, and the latter answered with ease.
"Correct," whispered Kyuhyun, clearly impressed, since he had purposely tried to make the question difficult since he knew of Sungmin's standards. If Sungmin wasn't so ridiculously good-looking and likeable, he probably would have been bullied because of his intelligence, they probably would have called him a geek, but that seemed pretty impossible right now.
And on they continued, with Kyuhyun asking Sungmin several questions and Sungmin getting them all accurate and correct. Throughout this, Ryeowook had arrived to keep Shindong company and observe the situation; they were both overly giddy and excited, constantly giggling with one another about the event.
Around twenty minutes later, they were just about finished.
"Thank you so so so much," Sungmin said, smiling at Kyuhyun. "I think I can ace this test, thanks again!"
Kyuhyun nodded. "It's cool," he replied, and watched as Sungmin began gathering his books and pens and decided he had better get going as well, there was no reason for him to be hanging around the school library, it wasn't somewhere he really enjoyed being.
He got up out of his seat, and Sungmin followed suit. Soon they were both standing there, facing each other. Kyuhyun took the opportunity to study Sungmin for some time and yep, he was positive, Sungmin was friggin' gorgeous - from the jet black hair to the beautiful bow-shaped lips. "Well.. I.. uh.. hope you do well," Kyuhyun said awkwardly, grinning a bit.
Sungmin let out a light laugh. "I hope so too," he said. "But I think I will. Thanks again.." He said, while making his way past Kyuhyun and walking towards the library's exit. "I'll see you around," he added, not forgetting to touch Kyuhyun's arm as a friendly gesture.
Being Kyuhyun, he turned around to watch him leave, and smirked to himself. He then set out to search for Shindong and found him within seconds, hiding behind a few shelves, accompanied by Ryeowook. "Ryeowook?" Kyuhyun asked, in very slight disbelief, and the older grinned at him cutely. "You guys were here the whole time.. watching?"
"Of course we were," Shindong replied, standing up fully. "And it went very well. Good job." He gave Kyuhyun a soft pat on the shoulder as if praising him before walking away and out of the library.
"Come on," Ryeowook said. "Let's go look for Eunhyuk and the others."
That same day during literature class, Eunhyuk and Kyuhyun had followed their usual routine and exchanged notes between one another via random scraps of paper as the teacher babbled on about insignificant (in their opinion) things. Kyuhyun had told Eunhyuk about his experience in the school library during lunch time.
Eunhyuk had replied saying that was a weird way to encounter Sungmin for the first time, and it almost sounded unbelievable. He had also said it was neither his or Donghae's plan, and that Shindong must have thought of it all by himself. Kyuhyun had replied to that saying that it sounded strange, but it was fucking true. Eunhyuk had responded to that saying since it was true, Shindong was a fucking genius. Kyuhyun had replied saying he was, but a very pushy one. Eunhyuk wrote that this was only the beginning of their mission. Kyuhyun had wrote him a note that read a sarcastic 'woo hoo'.. but genuinely, he was quite excited.
Wednesday
Kyuhyun had finished buying a few small snacks and just as he was about to turn around and make his way out of the stuffy cafeteria, he collided with an unknown figure.
"And just where do you think you're going, Kyuhyun?" It was Donghae.
"Um... out of the cafeteria?"
Donghae chuckled and shook his head slowly. "Nu-uh. No way, you're not!" he waggled his finger in front of Kyuhyun's face before using the same finger to point over to the other end of the cafeteria.
Kyuhyun's eyes followed Donghae's index finger, and he groaned aloud when seeing the location his friend had appointed him to. "Why?" He asked, his tone slightly sulky.
In response, Donghae stared at him as if the answer was completely obvious - which it was. "Ahem, him! Walk past his table casually!" Kyuhyun knew very well who this 'him' person was, he'd have to be a complete fool not to know.
The younger emitted a small groan before stomping on his feet slightly, something he usually would never do, and this shocked Donghae a bit. "Okay.." He hesitantly complied, with a small sigh. Donghae grinned victoriously and watched as Kyuhyun shuffled away towards his destination, with absolutely terrible posture.
"No slumping! It's unattractive.." Donghae commanded after his slim departing figure. Kyuhyun lazily stood up straight.
Trying his best to do it as casually as humanly possible, he ambled past Sungmin's table, where he sat with his snobbish, high-class friends. Sungmin had been munching into some a piece of ambrosial chocolate cake, when he naturally looked up and spotted the boy who had been so much help to him the previous day. "Hey, Kyuhyun!" He called out, waving over at him, maniacally.
Kyuhyun turned to see Sungmin waving at him with his beautiful smile. Fucking glorious smile. It looked as if he wanted Kyuhyun to come over, so he did. "Hi Sungmin," he said, trying to keep his cool. "Sup?" He added, and he unintentionally looked across Sungmin's lunch table. As soon he did, he regretted it because twelve pairs of eyes were staring up at him, curiously and expectantly, some disapprovingly.
Sungmin stood up from his seat and jumped up a bit. "I got an A... plus! And it's all because of you. You're the reason I aced my history exam," he cried in delight.
"Not really.." Kyuhyun murmured modestly, while rubbing the side of his attractive, exposed neck shyly. "I just helped you revise."
Sungmin simply laughed. "Exactly! Without that revision, I probably would have gotten a B, and that's not what I was aiming for."
"Oh. Well... you're welcome?" Kyuhyun responded, ambivalently.
Sungmin's expression suddenly became very thoughtful, and he placed a long index finger to his chin while in seemingly deep thought. "You know, I feel like I owe you something." He then smiled at Kyuhyun in a way that he was telling him it was his cue to request some sort of favor from him.
Oh, yes you do. You definitely owe me something. Be mine and let me fuck your superb little body. Kyuhyun shook his head, strongly disagreeing. "No, no! You don't owe me anything at all, Sungmin," he said, smiling uneasily. Before Sungmin had the opportunity to utter another word of protest, Kyuhyun waved goodbye to him. "Bye Sungmin, I'll see you later." And he walked away, hastily.
Sungmin pouted and slumped back into his seat, defeated.
Kibum silently stared at his friend for some time, before finally opening his mouth to speak. "Cho Kyuhyun - best friend of Eunhyuk? Also an obnoxious gaming freak." Kyuhyun was in Kibum's computer class, but they had never engaged in a conversation or had any interactions; not that Kibum did any of those things with people other than his friends, anyway. Because he was... well, Kibum.
Sungmin smiled dreamily and nodded. "Yes, but a really nice and hot gaming freak. I don't know why I never noticed him before. He's so nice and sweet!"
"Right," said Heechul, sounding very displeased. "He may be gorgeous and whatever but listen, Min. This nice guy attitude he has, it's just an act. I can see right through him, Sungmin. I can. I know people. He's really obnoxious and rude," he said, while pointing his plastic fork towards Sungmin as if warning him to beware.
Sungmin let out a frustrated sigh. "You guys... he really is wonderful. He's charming, polite, handsome, hot.."
"No, no. He's not," Heechul argued. "You want a nice guy? You go for guys like Hankyung- now those are the proper nice, diligent guys. Except don't actually go for Hankyung because.. well, to put it simply, he's mine." He finished and glared at Sungmin wickedly, for no damn reason.
"Yours?" Leeteuk asked, incredulously. "Sorry, I don't think so," he sang, teasingly while swirling his plastic white spoon around in his friend's face.
Heechul smacked Leeteuk's hand away. "Yah!" He roared. "I'm working on it..." he muttered, almost ashamedly, while looking down at his food and poking it with his fork quite grumpily. "He will be Kim Heechul's soon. Don't worry."
"Annnnyway," Zhoumi began. "I think Kyuhyun's a nice guy too, Sungmin!" He said, cheerily and Sungmin was extremely chuffed that at least someone agreed with him.
Leeteuk nodded in agreement. "Yeah, if Sungmin really likes him then who are we to judge? I, for one, also think Kyuhyun's a real cutie." He picked up a french fry from his plate and just as he was about to devour it, he felt eyes glaring at him darkly. He turned to see Kangin giving him a very threatening look and jerked up in his seat a bit. "I- I mean, cute.. as in cute for Sungmin!" He squeaked, falling into a flustered state, while Heechul laughed boisterously, even pounding his fist onto the table numerous times.
Kangin smiled contently at Leeteuk's last spoken words. "Eh, Kyuhyun seems dangerous," he then said.
Sungmin rolled his eyes and stood up from his seat, abruptly. "Whatever. I'm not even listening to you guys." He grabbed his bagpack and walked off. The others exchanged slightly surprised glances.
