Summary: Chinen's life couldn't be better -- until Daiki breaks up with him. Over a year passes but Chinen refuses to be with anyone else, turning down dates from pretty girls and boys. Chinen's mom decides to sign him up for summer school courses to help him "get ahead in school and not sulk around for another summer." He must walk to the school where classes will be held, three blocks away, and Chinen couldn't think of a worse way to spend his summer. On his first day he wakes up late, his hair a muss, and gets lost in the building while trying to find his classroom. He takes a seat in the middle row of three, near the back corner. He watches the students pour in and sees someone he vaguely recognizes. Yamada Ryosuke. Yeah, that was his name.

The next few days continued the same as the first. Yuto kept believing that Yamada was stalking him because of his obvious coolness, Keito pretended to go along with the notion, and Chinen kept spinning in his seat, the world around him just a blur. The weeks dragged on and Chinen would have liked to say that he was completely bored and hated coming to school everyday, but that wasn't the truth. Even though he wouldn't quite admit it to himself, Chinen looked forward to coming to school. He looked forward to seeing Yamada, and he hated when class ended.

As the third week of school came to a close, Chinen didn't want to wait until Monday to see Yamada again. He wanted to keep seeing him everyday. He wanted to keep having the funny conversations that were so easy to have with him. He wanted to see him more than just four hours a day.

The class paused for their ten minute break and as usual Yuto dragged Keito to their normal spot behind the lockers. This time though, Chinen did not follow.

Yamada looked at Chinen surprised, "You're not going to follow your master today?"

Chinen giggled, "Nyaa even minions get breaks, Yama-chan."

"Will you be on break Monday, too?"

"Of course! I'm on holiday!"

"Oh? And what holiday?"

Chinen stroked his chin, pretending to be in deep thought, "It's National Love Chinen week nyaa!"

Yamada chuckled, "National, huh? You make it seem like everyone loves you…."

"Don't… don't they?"

"Well, how can they love you if they don't know you?" He asked.

Chinen had an idea. I'll make Yama-chan embarrassed! He would look so so sooo cute! "Mm… Yama-chan knows Chii."

He nodded. "Yes, I know you."

"So Yama-chan must love Chii!" Chinen yelled out to an empty classroom. Everyone else had left for break, even the teacher.

"E-eh?" Chinen was right about Yamada becoming flustered. "What are you saying?! Don't throw around the word 'love' so lightly!"

"Mou Yama-chan, so serious! I meant as a friend, of course!" Chinen giggled at Yamada and was spinning in his seat again.

"Oh… well then I still can't say that I love you, Chii. We haven't been friends for very long… I don't know what Yuto's told you…"

"Eh?" Chinen stopped his seat. "What would he have to say?"

The door burst open and students began pouring back into the room. Chinen knew that Yamada wouldn't be able to answer his question today, not with so many people around. It seemed like a personal matter and Chinen understood that, but he still wanted to know. Yamada had sounded a bit uncomfortable when he was speaking and Chinen wanted to know what could have made him that way.

The uncomfortable aura that Yamada was giving off went away soon after class picked up again.

"Eh? Chii, stop!" Yamada gasped quietly, trying to hold in his laughter. Chinen was trying to lighten the mood by poking Yamada in random places while the teacher wasn't looking.

"But it's fun, Yama-chan! See, you want to laugh!" Chinen whispered.

"That's not voluntary!"

"Nyaa you love it…" Chinen smiled slyly.

"You're a little too happy, Chii…." Chinen narrowed his eyes and puffed out his cheeks in response and Yamada pouted, "Mou… I didn't say stop smiling.…"

Chinen's cheeks deflated and he grinned at Yamada who nodded his approval.

Class continued quickly with a little poking and prodding between the boys when no one was looking. The bell rang and released the students into the world beyond their studies. Chinen and Yamada took their time shutting down their computers and gathering their things before walking out together.

"I should get your number." Yamada said all of a sudden.

"You should."

"Yes." He fumbled for his phone which he handed to Chinen to add in his contact information. They go through their separate doors and Chinen set off and, after the busses were out of sight, sprinted home.

He followed the familiar route without thinking twice about it. He reached his house in record time. He darted to his room and searched frantically for the cell phone he hasn't used in a year. No one had his phone number besides his parents (but they never called), old friends that Chinen really didn't want to talk to, and Daiki. Chinen had no use for a phone that allowed him to talk to the one person he wanted to if that person does not want to talk to him.

"Mou… it's dead!" He found his phone under the pile of clutter on his desk. He grabbed the chord from his phone charger and plugged it in. It couldn't have started up more slower, the welcome screen popped up and finally the phone was functional. No missed calls, no new mail messages, nothing to indicate that Chinen had anything of a social life at all.

Chinen clung to his phone the rest of the day, hoping to hear from Yamada. He had given up hope when he climbed into bed and the clock across the room blinked the time at him. 11:26 p.m.

Yama-chan never called… Chinen's mind began to wander as he thought to himself, mmm something came up! That's it. Something came up and Yama-chan just couldn't talk to me! Yeah.

Or it was a joke, a guy like Yama-chan would obviously have better things to do than talk to someone like me….

Get a grip, Chinen! Why is Yamada so important to you? He's just some guy. Some guy that's distracting you from your real love. He's not gone, he can't be gone. Daiki is important. Daiki is special.

Chinen closed his fingers around the ring still in his pocket.

I love my Dai-chan.
