Summary: Chinen's life couldn't be better -- until Daiki breaks up with him. Over a year passes but Chinen refuses to be with anyone else, turning down dates from pretty girls and boys. Chinen's mom decides to sign him up for summer school courses to help him "get ahead in school and not sulk around for another summer." He must walk to the school where classes will be held, three blocks away, and Chinen couldn't think of a worse way to spend his summer. On his first day he wakes up late, his hair a muss, and gets lost in the building while trying to find his classroom. He takes a seat in the middle row of three, near the back corner. He watches the students pour in and sees someone he vaguely recognizes. Yamada Ryosuke. Yeah, that was his name.

The morning had been windy which did his hair no favors. When he walked up to the doors and looked through the windows, he could see his reflection staring back at him, tired eyes and hair sticking out in all directions. He tried to flatten it but his hair was being stubborn. Instructors were waiting inside the building to direct students to their classes. Chinen gave one of them his name and was given brief instructions before being sent on his way. He glances at the clock and notices that he'd made it to school in less than ten minutes.
Chinen nearly circles the whole building, before deeming himself lost and begins to wander blindly, only then coming to the right room. He walks to the farthest corner, opposite the door and sits at the end of the middle row. He would have take the end of the last row had it not been for the scary looking student who seemed to be at least two years older than Chinen sitting three seats from the end of that row.
The teacher comes around, handing out text books to the students who had arrived and Chinen takes one, placing it next to the computer in front of him. The room had three long tables in it with computers side by side, lining each table. The teacher's desk was against the wall to Chinen's right, and behind him was a very large, long window that let Chinen see all of the arriving students getting off buses. Chinen bet his mother didn't know they had a bus system. He watched the students walk through the door and the seats around him fill up one by one. Just then a boy walks in, Chinen hadn't seen him in a while. He couldn't remember his name at first, but when their eyes met the boy grinned at him. Chinen forced a smile in return. The boy comes over and takes the seat next to him. Chinen remembers his name right as the boy sits down, it was Yamada, the boy he'd seen around Yuto.
"Hey, I'm Yamada, do you remember?" He asked happily, taking a text book from the teacher who was still walking around passing them out.
Chinen was actually relieved to have someone in the class that he recognized, even if they didn't know each other very well. He nodded, "Mm, I remember you. Yuto called you Yama-chan. Yama-chan, Yama-chan, Yama-chan." Chinen winked, "It's cute."
Yamada chuckled, "He also called you Chii-chan. Not very masculine either, is it?"
"Mou… at least Chii is as cute as his name!"
Yamada gasped loudly, "You don't think I'm cute."
Chinen giggled, "I never said that." He kicked off the ground and began spinning in his swivel chair. He could get used to this. Yamada was so easy to talk to. It was nice.
Both boys looked toward the door the same time Yuto burst in, holding a very rumpled looking Keito. Chinen guessed that he'd been dragged the whole way here. It was less than one minute before class starts. Yuto's usual smile breaks out on his face at being either almost late or perfectly on time, Chinen can't tell which. They both take books from the teacher and take the two empty seats right behind Chinen and Yamada.
The teacher seemed to be trying to get the students' attention but was failing. She had bushy hair and glasses that seemed too big for her face. Many of the students were talking already but she didn't seem to notice that no one was paying attention to her.
"We're not going to learn anything! This is GREAT!" Yuto whispered loudly, leaning back in his seat.
Chinen looks around the room and finally at Yamada, the only one who seemed to be paying any attention at all. "So studious…" He said, smirking.
Yamada looked up from the notes he was taking and stuck his tongue out.
Chinen smiled and spun slowly in his seat.

Two hours passed and the students were given a ten minute period for break.
"Yaaahooo! Well that was boring, and we still have another two hours! Kei-chan, how will we survive?" Yuto exclaimed, throwing himself over Keito.
Chinen wondered how Yuto always seemed to have so much energy. Yuto marched out of the room, his boyfriend in tow, yelling for Chinen to follow. He did, but he felt guilty knowing that Yuto hadn't asked Yamada to come with them on purpose.
Chinen felt tall standing next to the lockers. They were placed in lines in the large hallway, and only just reached up to his chin. Yuto dove behind a line of them, Keito and Chinen ducking behind them too.
"Mou why is Yama-chan here! Didn't tell anyone I was signed up for school, no I didn't. Well you of course Kei-chan but that's you! No one else, not even you Chii-chan, sorry about that but you can never be too careful!" Yuto narrowed his eyes, peeking around the corner of the lockers like a spy. "That Yama-chan follows me, he does. I know I'm amazing, but please we have to draw the line somewhere…."
"I think Yama-chan's nice," Chinen started to say but was pounced on by a crazed Yuto.
"Don't say that! Don't let him hear you or else he won't leave you alone either!"
Keito had to pry the two apart which wasn't easy considering Yuto was flailing wildly. A short bell rang, signaling the end of break and the boys walked back into the classroom. Chinen noticed Yamada seemed to have not moved from his seat and once again felt guilty for leaving him.
Class continued as it had during the first half with no one paying attention. Even Yamada's attention seemed to drift, though Chinen could swear he caught Yamada looking at him more than once. He could have been wrong though, his constant spinning was making him a little dizzy….
As the end of class neared, the students' desire to be anywhere but here showed more than it had all morning. People began shutting down their computers, cramming the day's homework into their text books, and sitting on the edges of their seats staring at the clock. When the teacher finally dismissed them, most of the kids bolted from the room, Yuto included (dragging along the usual suspect, of course). Yamada and Chinen take their time picking up their things.
"They don't like me very much, do they?" Yamada says as they leave the room.
"N-no! That's not true!" Chinen answers but he knows it's a lie.
"I know it is Chinen, don't hide it."
"But…"
"But you like me, don't you?"
Chinen nods almost as enthusiastically as Yuto does, "Mm! Chii likes Yama-chan!"
They come to the place where they must part ways. Yamada take the bus home and leaves through different doors. Chinen exits through the same front doors he had entered through, and starts on his way back home. About halfway through his walk, he saw a bus coming up on the street beside him. He looks into one of the tinted windows and swears he can see Yamada smiling at him. But it's too dark, he isn't sure.
