*eek* Placements!

I'm partially freaked and partially hyped about getting a Uni Industry Based Learning placement. Freaked because omg I'm going to be working full time for IBM for 6 months doing stuff I don't know if I'll know how to do! And hyped because I've wanted this pretty bad since I ever found out about it. This whole deal started about 6 months ago and after a whole lot of confusion, waiting and disorganisation (on the Uni's side) I finally found out I got the IBL placement on Friday...I start Wednesday *eek*.

I had an interview last Thursday (which disrupted my beach holiday...but we'll get to the holiday part later...), which was exciting, scary and nerver-racking (or is it wrecking?) all at the same time. I've never had such an important interview before! An interview for Coles doesn't count :P It was with this lady from IBM and basically she had to interview two of us and pick who she wanted...bad thing is it was against my friend *sigh*. But all turned out well because there was a 2nd placement going at IBM and my friend got that. Although my other friend missed out on that 2nd one. :( But the interview went pretty well. It went for an hour but it didn't feel that long and the lady was really nice and we seemed to get along well enough. So all was good.

So because I was at the beach all last week I had my mum checking my emails and she rang me Friday morning to tell me I got the job! *yay* I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing with them but all I know is it's working for IBM who are doing this project for General Motors. *shrug* Guess I'll find out more on Wednesday.

I had to go into Uni today to get my IBL folder which basically told me all the stuff I have to do this semester...I have to keep daily logs ("10:07am - went to toilet" LOL only kidding!), as well as hand in weekly status reports to my supervisor and do a presentation at the end of the semester. No one told me I had to do all that! Also someone told me we get paid $13 000 over the 6 months but now I think it's $6 500...I'm not sure, but if it's $6 500 that is like the crappiest hourly rate I've ever seen lol. Although I'm not supposed to be concerned by the money *look* ;)

I spent last week at down at Saftey Beach. Me and 6 other friends rented out this house which was really nice for what we needed. It came complete with a shonky pool table which slanted to one side and had a dodgy cue stick lol. We've all become really crappy pool players from it. We spent most days down by the beach, swimming, tanning, building sand castles (so not only for kids!), burying people in the sand, drinking, playing pool, poker and other games. So yeah, it was a long week but still pretty fun.

On the last two nights we had a couple more people stay and bugger the house was crowded! Glad to be home though, as much as I love my friends seeing them for that long is more than enough. I'm surprised there was no major fights or disagreements. The only major drama thing that happened was Nikki cried on the last night because being on holiday at the beach brought back memories of her cousin who died last year and she said that she still cries most nights about it but because she hadn't been alone for so long it just built up and she thought Danni and I were pissed off at her and thought she was being grumpy. We wern't pissed off at her, nor thought she was grumpy...just felt she was acting weirdly. And still she didn't tell us directly what was worrying her, someone else told us. I'm not sure if I feel guilty that she thought that we thought that because she's one of those people that will exaggerate things for sympathy...

Oh and the house almost burnt down. A couple of the boys were using the oven and thought they turned it off but didn't (goes to show, never let boys in the kitchen) and the tea towel was hanging on the door of the oven and when my friend and I went down to make a cake we moved the towel and there were black scorch marks on it. A little bit longer and it would've caught fire! *eek* But because the oven was so hot it burnt the top of our cake within 2 minutes *pout*. Luckily we could fix it. Mmm Cadbury chocolate cake.

What else happened...oh I almost drowned! We were at this surf beach down in Port Sea and like we were body boarding but kept moving further and further to one side without realising it. So I realised I was near the rocks and tried to get back across a bit more away but everytime I tried to swim away the waves would push me back in the other direction and I tried to stand on the ground but the sand would melt away and yeah...scary stuff. It was pretty dangerous and I managed to get out and about 10 mins later we see the lifeguards telling everyone to move over...apparently there were rips *eek*. Guess I was pretty lucky. Drowning is like one of my biggest fears. But yeah, body boarding is awesome fun. I need to go again, but maybe to a safer beach lol.

And just a few photo's :)

Pretty, calm, non-drownable beach...

Poor Amanda's horrible sun burn...yeouch!

And just one of Amanda, me and Danni...we took like 10 of these photos but in practically all of them something was wrong...this was the best of the bunch.
