So, I didn't know whether I'd have a final post of this 2019 here, yep, it's still 2019 where I'm writing this. But, this morning I watched the first episode of Voyage and all 5 of them made me cry. Just after that, I remembered about Kohaku and the first thing I was able to catch on Twitter was Kaito's performance, and it reached me~

So, this song is not released yet, so this is pretty much a draft, till this is officially released and probably until I'm satisfied with it,... which I don't think will ever happen. I got kanji from
here, 'cause I was lazy to copy it from the video. Also, I don't know how could you possibly not know this, but lyrics are by Yonezu Kenshi, who is amazingly talented and I love his music style, so I was delighted with this collaboration.

When you were little while looking at a kite flying high
you grasped tightly the thread,
really firm and strong in order not to let go of it.
The longed future is beside the first star.
What is possible to see looking from there?
You always wanted to know.
Your mother said, "Don't cry."
Your father said, "It's okay to run away.",
each time, a grand dream
made you notice how blue the sky is.
If the wind blows, the song will be heard,
humming towards your direction
wishing for your dream to come true
filling the air with raru ra ri ra
When you were little you saw a kite with large wings,
but it has a smaller and older shape than in your memories.
The yearned future always kept a secret inside the right pocket
was a story nobody knew.
Your friends said, "Don't forget."
You said, "I love you."
And when something made you dwell in small wounds
you heard them from somewhere.
If the wind blows, the song will be heard
humming towards your direction
wishing for your dream to come true,
filling the air with raru ra ri ra
Pushing its way through the storm
a small kite
surpasses sadness and goes beyond.
And finally returns to where the thread is connected.
If the wind blows, this song will be heard
humming towards your direction
wishing for your dream to come true
filling the air with raru ra ri ra
Raru ra ri ra raru ra ri ra
[T/N]:
I won't write much, just that I'll replace the official lyrics when this is released, also I followed some interpretations on this song from the same blog I got the kanji from. Just a few notes, this will probably change, but I wanted, it to be my dream to do this as the last post from 2019, to dedicate it to ARASHI.
- Sometimes it feels like the one singing the song is more like witnessing this big dream of someone else. It is meant to be an encouraging song for the Olympics as well, so I guess that makes sense.
- The stanza with the parents, apparently these are common phrases you say to kids to comfort them, and the great dream reminding him of how blue the sky is, that's just beautiful.
- I chose that romanization for the lalularila, sorry lol
- The highlighted with italics stanza and the previous one were really difficult and I'm sorry about my mistakes but this is my best try for now. I like that affection and friendship are memories that help them when there are struggles.
- And the last stanza before the last chorus is so beautiful, from containing the word 'storm' to the last phrase about returning home to the ones that keep you grounded, actually, after this try, I love this song so freaking much!
Edit 200510: so months after this and in the middle of a freaking pandemic I'm still loving this so much, I changed a little in punctuation, because I love the stanzas with the quotes, it's like he hears the talking in specific moments of his life (Idk why I'm using him, Yonezu maybe?) and those words help him and are important. Also, I changed one to 'don't forget'. My last edition to this was the romanization of the rarurarira, because I didn't like the one I chose before lol, I can't listen to this song just one time. It's an amazing song.
Edit 2020/07/05: After watching the animated version I decided to change most of the pronouns because I love this even more in this way. I'm not going to lie, watching the 4 friends saying goodbye made a tear come down... I subbed the video, it's here, and the pass is the name of the song but how it sounds in hiragana, I'll write it at the end of this, no capitals, so I love this song soooo much...I didn't change much of my translation, I also changed the order, back in the way it was originally, but the whole pronouns still feel like a radical change... well, this will be released soon :D

My first impression was 'this sounds so Yonezu-poi' LOL, and I felt a little sorry about wanting to hear it in his voice but it's just that it sounds so much like him! his voice just came to my mind. I loved Arashi's voices though, and Nino was really a highlight from my hearing point.
Watch it on YT And that's it, the end of the year 2019, and this is/was the year that I didn't want to end because 2020 will be the last for us to enjoy Arashi until hopefully, the hiatus ends. I didn't want to dwell in a year full of 'last-times'. But here we go, let's enjoy what we have left. I can't imagine what it will bring but I'm happy we'll be walking through it together...sort of, I mean I'm miles away but I totally get Matsujun's feelings, I totally felt that way, of something dear being destroyed...I'm really not good at quoting but that was what stayed in my mind and I understand you. Thanks for being extra, I also felt that~
