Hi! I'm still in the middle of adapting to my new reality, I guess, it's hard, but I think we're slowly going back to the way it was before... So, this has to do with human emotions, my reality, and this song XD so let's go, I couldn't resist this rocky song~

This is from West's latest double A-side -single Dekkai Ai / Kido Airaku, again a nice single for these guys, I love having their short versions on Youtube, to add them here :D Either way, both songs are theme songs for the two doramas with the members currently airing. I think Dekkai ai is okay, I'm not crazy about it. But, Kido Airaku is so good, I mean I love this type of song, so, let me explain first a couple of things, I don't do this much, I think only once before, but, I think it's better to add this before, so let me insert the tweet here~
#JohnnysWEST releases their 17th single today, the double A-sides "Dekkai Ai" & "Kido-Airaku." The love song Dekkai Ai is melodic ballad that is backed by Kido-Airaku, a rock-driven track offering a shorthand way to say “take happiness from hard work and love music."

July 27, 2021 So, I like this pic!! lol, I just noticed that lol, either way, I don't want this to be long, haha, but anyway, like the tweet explains, "Kido-Airaku" is an expression offering a shorthand way to say “take happiness from hard work and love music." It sounds like 喜怒哀楽, it's the same reading, but this means "human emotions". So, I tried to make sense out of it in the lyrics... but I'll write a little more about what I've found about this in the notes, I got kanji from
here, and as usual I'm sorry about my mistakes, let's go with my try~
ジャニーズWEST( Johnny's WEST )
喜努愛楽 (Kido-Airaku)
Enjoy working hard and love music
Lyricist:吸血亭賛美
Composer:偉町大介
一歩進んで二歩下がり
七度転んで八起きなら
傷だらけでも笑えれば
少し気も晴れるから
One step forward and then two steps back,
after falling seven times and getting up eight times,
if you can laugh even covered in scratches,
you'll feel a little better.
きっと悲しい顔は似合わない
僕がいて (君がいる)
「喜努愛楽」でいっちゃえば良し!
I'm sure a sad face doesn't suit you,
I'm here (You're here)
It's better to "enjoy working hard and love the music"!
駄目で元々良いじゃない
失敗を恐れちゃ進めない
動き出した衝動!止まらない!
僕がいて (君がいる)
独りじゃないさ「喜努愛楽」で良い
It's better to try than not to do it,
the fear of failing won't let you move forward.
Take impulse since you started to move! Don't stop!
I'm here (You're here)
You're not alone, it's better to "enjoy working hard and love the music".
どこか寂しい夜空でも
雨降りで曇り空でも
いつか夜が明け陽は昇り
晴れ渡り虹も出る
No matter if you're under a lonely night sky,
even if it's a cloudy one due to the rain,
eventually, the night will end and the dawn sun will rise.
The sky will clear up and even a rainbow will appear.
ずっと全て上手くいくなんて無い
僕がいて (君がいる)
「喜努愛楽」でいっちゃえば良し!
Things don't always work out well
I'm here (You're here)
It's better if you "enjoy working hard and love the music"!
見慣れてたはずの風景も
一人歩いた帰り道も
同じ空見上げてるから
僕がいて (君がいる)
独りじゃないさ「喜努愛楽」で良い
The view that you surely are familiar with,
during the way back home alone
I'm looking up to the same sky because
I'm here (You're here)
You're not alone, it's better to "enjoy working hard and love the music"
哀しくて立ち止まったり
愛しくて胸詰まったり
言葉に出来ない様な瞬間も
Feeling so sad that you stopped moving
Feeling so much love that your heart feels constricted
Even during moments when you can't express your feelings with words
いつだって「思うがまま」で良いんじゃない?
「感じたまま」は不器用じゃない
僕ら泣いて笑って生きている
独りじゃないから
「喜努愛楽」って言っちゃえば良し!
Isn't it fine to go with what your heart wants?
to follow "the way you feel" doesn't mean you are unskilful,
we live while we cry and we laugh
and since you're not alone,
it's better to say it like "Kido-Airaku"!
駄目で元々良いじゃない
失敗を恐れちゃ進めない
動き出した衝動!止まらない!
僕がいて (君がいる)
君がいて (僕がいる)
思うままに描き出せ
自分らしく「喜努愛楽」で良い
It's okay to give it a try, there's nothing to lose
the fear of failing won't let you move forward
Take impulse since you started to move! Don't stop!
I'm here (You're here)
You're here (I'm here)
Paint it in the way you see it,
being your own self, to say it like "Kido-Airaku" is better.
[T|N]: Well, isn't this another encouraging song I love so much? LOL, well, this is something I love so much from WEST's songs and I couldn't resist. So, here we are, let's see, the notes... well like I mentioned, "Kido-Airaku" would be a short way to say "enjoy working hard and love the music". And this is why in the last two stanzas in which this appears I just wrote it as it sounds, in romaji.
- So, this has the same reading as "human emotions" which is a combination of the kanjis for joy, anger, grief, and pleasure. And to write it differently has some subtle meaning that ... well I think it's pretty impossible to transmit in English without me going into a full paragraph of rambling so bear with me.
喜怒哀楽
喜努愛楽
If you look for differences, the second kanji changes, from anger to effort (to make an effort, to be diligent) and the second difference is the third kanji which also changes from sadness/grief to love.
So, in short, is like a message that says something like "let's live only with positive emotions without anger and sorrow in (the word for) human emotions!" I actually took this from an old webpage, and wow...
So, it would be something like let's do an effort or let's work hard to achieve joy, love, and let's enjoy. (This is also from another webpage and it continues with a very intrinsic parallelism) Once again, I was surprised that the little difference between "anger"(怒) and "effort"(努) lies in the difference between "heart"(心) and "power."(力). The effort also requires the power of anger. Turn sad into love.
Turn sorrow into love.
All you have to do is carry joy, anger, effort, sadness, love, and fun.
In another place, I found that the meaning would be "Strive for joy and love (cherish) to have fun".
So, basically, it's a fun play with kanjis, yes, with the radicals of the kanjis even! in the four-letter idiom, and I find this so interesting! I can't do that with my letters!! LOL, oh, one more thing, like you can see the last kanji is mostly going with the meaning of enjoying, having fun, but since this is a song, and it can also mean "music" I maintained the meaning explained in the English tweet.
- Also, I'm sorry, but I couldn't help it, I translated two parts slightly differently, I'm sorry but I liked both... it's the part with the expression saying that it's better to try it and fail than not trying at all. It means "Even if you try and fail, think that the result is the same as if you do nothing, and do it without fear of failure" or "giving something a try because one has nothing to lose" and I liked both options, I think it's like the 3rd stanza and the last one.
And lastly, let me ramble, I do think this may be a bit of a simplistic way to look at life or to face life, but the song goes a little beyond implying that you're not alone and that even though you may have all emotions and sorrows, it's better to give your best try and enjoy the moment, the music. And I think I like that meaning. Of course, it's pretty hard to do this alone, I may not resonate with all of it, but I do think it's important to feel that you're not alone when trying your best.
And that was it! I've only watched the first episode in Shige's dorama, yep, I didn't move forward in that, but RL is on my way! LOL. So, about this single, overall I think it's pretty good, we have the two main songs, then a song written by Shige, which is pretty catchy, also みんながいる which sounds interesting. Also Calling, but my very favorite is without a doubt the one I want to translate next, WEST usually forces me to try more than one song~
