quick notes from last night's "bright eyes" concert

Oct 19, 2004 18:21

From what others have said, it wasn't bright eyes at all. It was three main guys from other bands playing eachother's songs, plus a fill in guitar/keyboard player (no drummer)

M. Ward.. Really good. Great singer, even better guitar player.

Bright Eyes guy - Constipated lyrics. hard to get out, but feels relieved when they do. Also he emphasized each lyric a bit too much, hard to concentrate on the song's point in general. keep in mind I've never heard a song by any of these guys before, first impressions shouldn't last forever (though they take longer to reverse).

Third guy - no idea. Apparently he leads another band. Good singer, good guitar player, but he should never be a lead anywhere. Something missing. Good, but not great(would be a great #2 though).

You could see the talent in the Bright Eyes guy, and I think his presentation will improve (although maybe he doesn't need to considering the ADD lifestyle of today's american teen). But seriously, with such a tortured voice the guy must have had a hard life... at age 22.... in Nebraska.... Right.

Boo-friggidy-hoo.

I bought M. Ward's "latest cd" from the tour guy; fucker gave me the wrong one (from 2000, he's had at least 2 since, each with better reviews). It sounds decent enough, but his voice has obviously improved since then. Anyway, if I had to endorse any of the three singers it'd be Ward. Back to calling Sam Goody's and towers across the land.
