May is my month considering that i'll be turning 32 at the end of it, so today i took a me day since dunno when i'll have time this month to actually have a breather :)
so like i said yesterday, i went to see Iron Man 3 today! woke up bright and early to drop off Kay at hoikuen and then off i went. :) hubs told me to catch an earlier bus just in case there was traffic, so i listened to his advice and was very glad i did. nothing delayed my schedule, but i was glad to have an extra 15 min before the movie started. i also got some time to check out an upcoming movie i'd be interested in seeing:
The Grandmaster. it might be good to rent since its very similar to
Ip Man. i love me a good martial arts movie :)
anyway, i posted earlier about how i heard that there wasn't as much action as the last two films, but i am SOOOOOO WRONG!!! it is just as action packed as 1 and 2, and i think the last act made up for anything that might have been lacking in the rest of the movie. this was the only time that i can remember that i wish i had a few of my English speaking geek friends sitting by me. i don't know if it was because Japanese people are more quiet and don't like to disturb others or what not or if it's a cultural thing, but i feel like i was the only one who was laughing and being excited the whole time. granted i saw the first showing of the day, so there weren't that many people in there to begin with, plus it was the subbed 2D version. so, i felt pretty loud and alone when i loled in the theater, like i was the only one who was getting the humor in the movie. then there were also times where i felt like getting out of my chair with both hands pumping in the air cheering at how awesome some scenes were!! i didn't, of course, but i did do a few silent fist pumps. ^_^;; i can imagine if we were in the States watching this, everyone in the audience would be cheering and clapping at those action scenes!! i think Jeremy Jahns, my favorite youtube movie critic, said it best in his review:

after the movie, it was right around lunchtime and while i was walking around the mall, i found a Cold Stone Creamery!! talk about a pleasant surprise! i didn't even know that Fukuoka had Cold Stone, so i made sure i had that after i had a quick meal at KFC :)
they didn't have my favorite flavor Apple Pie, so i settled for Cheesecake Fantasy instead. wasn't as sweet as Apple Pie (which is probably why it's not on the menu :P curse you Japanese palette!), but it was still pretty good ^_^ in the pic, you can see that it's a booklet for a circus. during Golden Week, Canal City Hakata is having a small circus of acrobats perform. it's called "Canal Circus" and has some pretty cool acrobats. since today is actually a workday, they only had three small performances lined up for today. i saw the 2:00 showing of one of their mini performances. it was only 30 min long, so there were only two acts: Pantomime Duo and a trapeze artist act. i preferred the former since it was like a comedic magic act. the crowd really liked the two performers also. the trapeze act was okay but waaay too short imo. :P before the actual performance, everyone got to see a couple of the other acrobats rehearse. there was an American guy who performs on the "Chinese Pole" and a Canadian guy who uses a "Cyr Wheel" in his act. those were pretty awesome even during rehearsal/practice, and i would have loved to see their real performances. ^_^ here are some videos i took from the show and rehearsal.
