EDIT: this is the third try at posting this...uggghh live journal!!! T_T
this weekend was the big switch where we'd be switching our home to the office space next door. so now, instead of living in apt. 5F-1, we are now living in apt. 5F and the office is now in 5F-1.
hubby did a speedy job with all the heavy lifting and furniture moving (office shelves, TV, computers, etc.) on Saturday and finished moving almost everything Sunday morning. then he tag teamed me afterward, and i went to work on organizing, boxing, throwing away, and cleaning everything that was in the room. it took me from 9:00 am all the way until 6:00 pm nonstop to get all our stuff sorted out and the room livable. it was tiring, but worth it in the end since i got half the stuff we are going to mail off to Japan boxed up already. :)
even though apt. 5F is bigger with more windows, i'll have to say that i prefer living in 5F-1, because apt. 5F seems to be designed for lefties (yes, i'm right handed). :/ it's a mirrored image of apt. 5F-1 so that means that almost everything from the light switches to the kitchen faucet is backwards. for example, you'd have to turn the kitchen faucet left to get cold water and right for hot! the right side of the stove is also up against a wall, so i have to cook standing slightly to the left or else my hand keeps on bumping up against the wall. i guess you can get a lot of practice using the other half of your brain in this room. ^_^;;
of course, this is all just temporary since we're leaving Taiwan by the end of August. we'll gradually be moving things back to apt. 5F-1 all through the month because once August 22 comes around, hubby won't be here to help me with anything. :/ so, August sure is going to be a month full of changes.
good grief, i just realized that it's the last week of July, which means it's the last week for a few of my classes, and also the last week of Kay's preschool! going to be an eventful week, that's for sure! ^_^
on a side note, Kay's sick again! sigh, she'd just gotten better last week, so i took her on a playdate with one of my former students on Saturday. his mom and i took the kids to Y17, which is like a recreation center, where they have this huge kids' playroom. it was the first time that me and Kay actually went into the playroom because the tickets are soo expensive. i was only going there that day because a friend of mine gave me one of her old tickets, and i never got a chance to use it until now. the playroom is such a popular place that you have to make a reservation so that they can control how many kids are in there at a time ^_^;; when we went inside, i understood why everyone likes going there. since it's indoors, it's a cool place for your kids to play in, and it had everything from a sandpit to a ball pen. although, a disadvantage to being totally indoors is that it's not an "open space", therefore, harbors more germs than say a playground in a park. granted they disinfect the whole playroom once a month, but that doesn't mean that the kiddies that play there aren't full of germs. hence, Kay is sick again...
we went on Saturday, and then she wakes up with burning from a fever on Sunday morning. sigh.. she always seems to get sick on Sundays which are the days that the hospital and most clinics aren't open ~_~;; however despite her 38-39 degree (centigrade) fever, she was still running around and had a good appetite, so hubby and i weren't very worried about her condition. we just let the fever run it's course and gave her some fever reducers when it got too high. when her fever was still around in the evening, i decided to take her to the hospital on Monday and skipped the usual playgroup session just in case it was something serious. wouldn't want our whole group getting infected with what she had ^_^;;
Monday's doctor appointment went by like a breeze surprisingly. i think it was mostly because i was able to see her usual pediatrician. he said that it was too early to tell if Kay had anything serious, but to pay attention to her symptoms in the next few days to check for sores or blisters in her mouth, hand or feet and come back if anything out of the ordinary happened. he said that it was likely that it might be just a mean cold bug that she got right after she was getting better from the other cold she had a week ago. i asked if she would be able to go to school on Friday, and the doctor said that if she didn't have a fever and it wasn't some enterovirus she'd caught, then it should be fine. so, she got some antibiotics and other meds to treat her cough and we were back home within the hour. :)
her fever went away after giving her the meds, and other than nightmares last night, she's been pretty normal. she's eating regularly and a bit more than usual actually, so hopefully if she sticks to her meds, she'll be able to get well enough for her to attend her last day at preschool on the 29th. :)
i'll leave you with a couple of vids of the place that was sooo fun also made Kay sick ^_^;;
