Halloween, rabbit rabbit and getting sick

i didn't really do anything for 2008 when Kay was 1 because she was waaay too little then and didn't really know what was going on, so that killed a little of my motivation. however, this year my friend Robyn gave her a small rainbow flower/fairy costume and she went crazy over it. i thought she looked absolutely adorable too, so i couldn't resist :) i knew that there were a few trick or treating events at some local pre-schools/kindergartens, but i didn't want to be sucked into their sales pitches. so, i opted for just dressing her up that day instead. besides, i don't let her eat candy anyway, so it'd be pointless to go trick or treating.

i took the time that day to put her hair up in clips and braids and decked her out in her rainbow tutu, bracelets and her "flower" wings. i had an errand to run before heading out to the usual library we go to on weekends, and that's when i spotted a bunch of people building a makeshift "haunted house" (more tent than house...). it was right outside the shopping center next to our apt building, so i asked about it. the event didn't start until after 5:30, and there would be trick or treating, a costume contest and a walk through the haunted house, so i made a note to come back home before then.

Kay turned a lot of heads and got compliments from strangers on the way to the library. some people had forgotten that it was Halloween when they saw her dressed up and i had to remind them. when we were in the library, a couple of grandmas thought she was so cute that they started taking pictures of her with their phones ^^ that was quite interesting.

we ended up staying the whole day at the library and Kay watched her usual Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (one of my own childhood favorites^^) and Dora the Explorer while i caught up on "The Sorceress" from "The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel". we got to the shopping center right before the event started and that's when i realized that it was also held by a local pre-school, but the kids were so cute in their costumes, that i decided to let Kay tag along. they had a whole bunch of things on the agenda, but we only stayed for the trick or treating in the shopping center which was done first. there was a bit of a jam in one of the stores due to all the little kids and their parents, but everything got done before 7:00. Kay got a small little bag with three pieces of candy in it by the end. she was so excited about her candy at first, but then thankfully forgot all about it when we went home :) it was kinda disappointing, because it was a little fake (the candy wasn't handed out by the stores but by the teachers/staff from the school at selected points in the shopping center) and there were just too many kids and adults to even enjoy anything. maybe next year, i'll have my own kids Halloween party and invite some families's i know.

the end and beginning of each month are the busiest times for hubby and me. mostly it's because there's a lot of paperwork and book keeping to be done around then. i've also been exhausted lately, and i didn't know why until today: aunt flo decided to come a whole week early. my body has decided to throw itself off track for no apparent reason :/ anyway, i've been so busy that i forgot to post my rabbit rabbit, which i think jinxed us into getting sick...ok, maybe not really...

Surprisingly, October was rather warm all the way up to Halloween. it didn't get slightly chilly until yesterday, and then it was freezing cold this morning! i never remembered the seasons changing within 24 hours back home! maybe it's because Taiwan doesn't really have much of a Fall, so when it's time for Winter, it comes right away :/ well, whatever happened, it's landed Kay with a bug that's made her feverish (gawd i hope it isn't the swine flu...) today and subsequently gotten her dad and me sick. hubby has already forecasted a cold coming on for him tomorrow, and i've got the inklings of a head cold already... what can you do when you live in a one room apt, eh? sigh... the good news is that we all get to stay home together! it's a nice change from having to go out and stay out for a whole day. i still prefer just staying home...maybe it's because i'm so lazy... :P

anyway, both hubby and i are kinda nervous about Kay's fever, but the meds are working for now and she's holding a temp. below 38 centigrade, so here's hoping... if she keeps on burning, then another trip to the doctors is in order...

and now, pics and videos...that is if you haven't already seen them on my facebook :)
