rabbit rabbit and an enjoyable Kohaku Uta Gassen
it's now 2009 for both my side of the world and back home in the States, so happy new year!! hope everyone had a good time celebrating. :)
nothing happened until the afternoon when Saito-san came up to me and asked if i wanted pizza this year instead of hot pot. i love pizza, but he's not too fond of it, so it was really sweet of him to order some last night. it came just in time for the kohaku uta gassen which was surprisingly entertaining this year!
it seems that NHK went all out this year from a blimp to live broadcasts from Brazil and Ireland! Ayumi Hamazaki opened and Kiyoshi Hikawa ended the show with his usual flare :) i was really surprised to see Enya perform in the Kohaku, but was even more surprised when the Blue Men Group showed up as well! they didn't perform, though. some other delightful surprises were a tribute to Miyazaki Hayao and an appearance by Sexy Buchou(セクシー部長) which was amusing :) in the end, the guys won which was disappointing since they've won for three straight years, but i think i would have voted for the guys, too.
anyway, Kay stayed up with us the whole night. so when we didn't get to bed until a little before midnight, she was out like a light :)
we plan on going out tonight to Long Shan Temple, so we'll see how that goes :) HAPPY 2009 EVERYONE!!
