it seems like yesterday just flew by in a whirl. we woke up around 9:30, and i got a call from my sister giving all of us Christmas wishes. she wasn't having much of a Christmas since she's down south and she's been really preoccupied with some other Chinese traditional occasions. apparently, she and her husband are suppose to spend every night in the same room for the first month of their marriage, which is really hard for my brother in-law, because he has to commute a total of four hours BY TRAIN to work and back every single day! Chinese traditions, go fig... anyway, she had already called home and told me that mom and dad are closing the restaurant at the end of this month, which was surprisingly early since their lease doesn't end until next year. unfortunately,
Waterside is scheduled to be torn down next year and they're letting the stores in there decide when to leave. sigh... there goes another good thing about home that i'm gonna miss...
afterward, we commenced with the
opening of presents! Kay got presents from all her grandparents and us and she had a great time
playing with them :D i want to send a special thank you to
chiarents for being such a great international grandma! ^_^ Kay had so much fun in the morning with her new toys that she zonked out right after lunch and didn't wake up until 4:30. i guess she knew what was in store for the evening even before we did! :P
in the evening, we decided to do something special since Saito-san had to work all through this weekend, so we went to the
Shi Ling Night Market for some
dinner, and Saito-san got me a ring-watch that i've been wanting since Kay was born and my old watch died. Kay took a little time adjusting to the crowd (packed even on a weekday; Christmas isn't really a holiday here), but
got comfortable after we made a small stop at
Mister Donut before going home. she had a lot of fun
playing with the straw in her cup of milk then :)
we went home after that, and i gave Kay her bath. she was in her bath longer than usual and kept on wanting to sit on the toilet even when i told her the toilet was broken(not really...). that's when Kay decided to give me my Christmas present for the year. the second time i wouldn't let her get out of the bathtub to sit on the toilet, she gave me this worried look and... *ploop* ...two little neat logs popped out of her little butt and into the water... ^_^;;; now, i'm pretty sure that every mother has experienced this once in their life of having kids, so i knew mine was going to come sooner or later. since she didn't know that the brown logs floating in the bathwater around her legs came from her own butt, she got scared after seeing them and started crying. i ended up taking her out, cleaned her off, and comforted her. by the time she had calmed down and i had finished cleaning her tub, i had realized that i wasn't grossed out by anything that had happened. guess that means i'm now a real mother ^_^;; anyway, all the hype, that long nap, and the sugar from the donut she ate kept her up til after 11:30 ^_^;; i ended up zonking out with her and didn't wake up to take a shower and all until 6:00 this morning. i know i should go back to sleep (Kay's still sleeping) or else i'll be a zombie during the day, but i wanted to get things posted and uploaded before i don't have any more time. all in all, a very memorable Christmas indeed :D
