I swear, it seemed like a good idea at the time. Don't click on this expecting great and awe inspiring things, okay? I'm allowed to drabble how (and on what) I want!
GOD, I HAVEN’T WRITTEN ANYTHING IN SO LONG, I’M SO RUSTY. AND IN CASE NO ONE'S NOTICED, I'M KIND OF SORT OF ON HIATUS, WILL BE BACK (LOL WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR ME?) IN DECEMBER? MAYBE? EXCEPT, YOU KNOW, I'M KIND OF NOT REALLY GONE DURING MY HIATUSES.

When Chris opens the door, he is definitely not expecting Ryu to be on the porch steps, worn denim stretching around the bent angles of his knees as he kneels, a rose between his trembling fingers and eyes entirely too hopeful.
“Hey, want to go to homecoming with me?” He asks like, like he can just do that.
“Um.” Chris says, has half a mind to say it’s just homecoming, want to try again come prom? but doesn’t because it’s still a pretty big step.
(Chris wonders if Ryu remembers last year, when the two of them were juniors and sort of friends - except kind of more than that - except not really, because that’s gay and gross and no one likes faggots. And then Chris wore a dress and high heels and makeup and everything to the homecoming and, boy, didn’t that cause the biggest scandal ever, ending with him getting kicked out of the dance and angry parents, both his and other students’, leaving angry messages and coming up to the school. He wonders if Ryu remembers that, or just doesn’t want to, or just isn’t bringing it up. Ever.)
Ryu clears his throat and shifts a little uncomfortably, bravado waning and anxiety setting in. “I mean, you can wear whatever you want, we can go as just friends or you know. If you want, that is, I. Right.”
And it’s so endearing and cute and all kinds of wonderful, Ryu trying his best and failing so horribly all the same, and before either of them notice it Chris has his fingers curling in Ryu’s hair and his breath is hot against the edge of Ryu’s mouth.
“I have an idea,” Chris murmurs, feeling particularly wicked, “We’re seniors now, so how about we both cross dress this time?”
Ryu pales and Chris laughs and kisses his worries and fears away.
(on homecoming night, they invite the whole gang over and go roller skating at the local rink. the music’s better, anyway.)
