Summary: The longest eight hours of Ryosuke’s life.

He spent 9 months fantasizing about teaching his little boy how to fish. Holding those small arms and helping them real in a catch that was clearly far too strong an opponent for the little one beside him. But life had other plans for him. When the nurse placed a very bald headed baby in Ryosuke's arms it all changed. The warm fuzzy pink blanket wrapped around his baby like a cocoon.
Suddenly those 9 months of fantasizing playing with his son didn't matter. Here in his arms, with the most content looking face, was his baby girl. Words could not describe the feeling that overcame him and rushed through his veins like adrenaline. It was exquisite, he could relish in that joy for his whole life he thought. So when the nurses took her away from his arms to do some extra checkups he watched them like a hawk. He noted how her small limbs bounced with energy as they probed her with cold metal stethoscopes. Just like her mother, she was feisty. He smiled at the thought.
Getting her here was a long process. Mirai had outright barked at him for making her the way she was...all round and in pain. She made absolutely sure to share that pain. The longest 8 hours of his life consisted of his wife's razor sharp finger nails digging into his knuckles as foul words spewed out from his usually sweet wife, mainly directed towards him. Honestly he couldn't blame her. Their little one was being stubborn and didn't seem all too eager to come out.
So when Mirai fell asleep Ryosuke sat himself down beside her, with the pink bundle of a miracle in his arms, he watched his two favorite girls drift off to dream land. Staying quiet as the little one’s eyelids drooped down. Smiling to himself once she was fast asleep, he whispered as softly as he possibly could to the newborn baby, “Happy Birthday.”

over the past couple months. Oddly enough, I seem to be into drabbles and one-shots recently. One-shots and drabbles were once my
