(no subject)
Okay the dates are official now. I'll be in Winnipeg at 10pm on June 24. I'll be back in Toronto the evening of July 5, so that gives me about 11 days to do stuff. I'm interested in how some of you would interpret this message from a colleague : "I'm going on vacation to India for my mother's ceremony and will be back in two weeks". I read that and thought, oh his mom is getting married. Well, when he came back to work, I asked him how his mom's wedding was, and he told me he actually went back for a religious death anniversary ceremony that is performed every year. Oops....I felt like such an ass! I probably insulted his family too because one of my other friends at work told me that for Hindu people, they never get remarried even after being widowed. Would any of you have thought that it was a wedding ceremony as well?
