storms
My server (pathos) is down because of the storms.
*sigh*
I was just talking about putting it back in colo but emtel is done with running a server and thinks that the whole idea is dumb and boring. I think I might want to have a conversation with some users as to what they need a box like pathos to do, since mostly it masks irc connections and does a strangely large amount of email traffic (why not use gmail?).
We had over 60mph winds and two over 50ft pine trees fell down in our neighbors' yards. We also had a lightening strike a transformer nearby and the resultant explosion rattled the windows. We also had around 5 inches of rain in a 24hr period.
hda of the server at one point sustained a smoking logic board. However, luckily I had an exact duplicate of that drive, same size, model, firmware and swapped the smoked logic board out with the good one. This worked and currently I am in the process of dd'ing the old drive to a brand new drive, because, I won't trust a drive which had a smoked board for actual use.
