First up - okay, so I called Gibbs coming back to help Ziva. I was just wrong by not predicting that it would only be temporary. I'm still curious as to how he's going to come back for good. Looks like next week he's called back yet again. That could be kind of amusing, though - if, for the first half of the season or something, it's Gibbs coming back "just this once" and "this isn't for good!" - every single episode. Heh.

So, Tony and Ziva. Apparently, they're sleeping together? This disappoints me. Now, don't get me wrong....I've been saying for ages that they've had chemistry and I've wanted them to get together. (Same with McGee and Abby). But I wanted them to get together onscreen. What's the fun of having two characters get together if you don't get to see the first moments, the first kiss, all of that business? I get that dumping it on us that they've been together is shocking, but come on. I wanted to see this truly progress instead of just being hit with it.

McGee looks adorable. I like him better with a little more hair, I think. He seems to have relaxed more in his role, and he looked gorgeous in that jacket he had on. I think, now that the bloom is off the Tony/Ziva rose for me, I'm totally rooting for McGee and Abby.

So that Agent Lee character....is she new, or was she just a part of that single episode? It could be kind of interesting to see a new member on the team. It's especially cute to see McGee give her a hard time and not be the probie anymore. And I have to say, I thought Lee would play a part in things. When Agent Slacks (ha!) got the anonymous tip, she was standing there listening intently, so I thought she was going to tip off the rest of the team or something. But, alas....

I loved Palmer and the insistence on a cool code name. Once he got it, he was totally okay with prison time. "What do you think of Black Lung?" "I think it's a horrible and painful way to die!" "As a code name, Palmer." "Ohhh....I like it!"

I read a promo of the show, and I think it was a little misleading. It gave the impression that nobody - including the team - would be on Ziva's side and that's why she had to turn to Gibbs. But the rest of NCIS didn't hesitate to jump to Ziva's defense. So that confused me a little. I was expecting more strife there.

The actual storyline....it took me a bit to follow it, because I came in after Ziva was already a somewhat-established member of the team. I missed all of the original stuff with Mossad and Ari and Kate's death. So yeah, I had a few moments where it was like "No, who's that guy? What's going on?" And I don't really understand what was happening with Ziva and Mossad, either. The impression I got when she was in the office with the guy was that she had been working undercover. There was a lot of talk of "if NCIS finds out", blah blah blah. So that threw me a little. Was she working undercover? Does NCIS know about this? I don't get it.

Gibbs + Franks = BFF. They crack me up. And I'm amused by Gibbs flirting with the local girl and Franks not liking it one bit. Speaking of Gibbs, though - why did he turn cold on Jenny and act like he didn't remember them being together in Serbia? That made no sense to me. Why would he shut down on her?

Oh - and I love how everyone on the run ends up in Gibbs' basement with the half-finished boat, bored out of their minds. There was Abby last season, and now there was Ziva. Hee.

Anyway - I'm glad to see it back, but it wasn't my favorite episode ever.

Okay. I kept griping about Mariska's maternity leave and how they would write Olivia off again when they had a perfectly good story in the first place....but I have to admit, this is an interesting story and a good way to get her offscreen. It also leaves the door open for strife with Stabler and the rest of the gang, since she disappeared without a trace. I hope, once she comes back, she and Elliot have it out, and the tension that came about with the Lou Diamond Phillips episode is revisited. It seems like such a waste to have played out that story and then....not played it out. I know I'm beating a dead horse with that, but really. So I hope this brings it around to that.

I liked seeing Star back. I sort of wish they'd gotten Marcia Gay Harden to fill in for Mariska, since Star is an established character that the audience already likes. But I'm guessing that MGH is busy with movies and such. At least, that's my assumption. It was nice to have her back at least for awhile, though.

I didn't really get why Olivia and Star thought they could pull off the "Star as SVU" without anyone noticing. Hello, everyone was there! How did they think they were going to get away with it? They thought Cragen just wouldn't notice a random FBI agent taking over one of his interrogation rooms? I mean, come on. I get that Cragen probably would have put his foot down, but at least attempt to get him involved. I hate that he's always the last to know.

I figured that Olivia would get busted for the underwear as soon as she picked it up. That was all just very hinky. And I love that Casey assumed that Cragen had indeed looked at the DNA match, and he was like "You told me not to!" Ha. Poor Cragen just can't win.

I have to say, I didn't quite get Elliot's involvement. He showed up long enough to get blown up and a concussion and that was it. Okay, so they wanted an explosion and they didn't want to put Olivia out of commission (after all, she had to "solve the case" and then become an informant) but that just seemed weird to me. I was amused by the whole "Who puts dynamite in a freezer?" thing. I knew the cabin was going to blow up after all, but the timing on that was fantastic. And I loved how Star continued to bring it up, even later. "Your boyfriend's pretty dumb, he put dynamite in a freezer." She just couldn't get over that.

My gut feeling was that Haley would turn out to be bad. She was just a little TOO convincing with all of her tree-hugging, earth-friendly talk. My instincts were telling me that, if she hadn't been involved in the first place, she'd eventually come around to the whole idea and was a diehard ecoterrorist. I did appreciate that she truly didn't want to hurt Star or Olivia, because from what I've read, a lot of ecoterrorists don't actually want to hurt people. They just want to get their point across. (They do it in horrible and misguided ways, but still). So I appreciated that she wasn't completely cold-blooded and would have preferred not to hurt them.

Having said that, though, I don't blame Star for shooting her dead. For one thing - like Star said, FBI is trained to shoot to kill. And Haley was clearly off her rocker. Who's to say she wouldn't get off and do something worse, or even mastermind something from inside prison? Truthfully, I think a part of Star did it FOR Haley. She stated that she refused to live in a cage - so my gut tells me that Star shot her, in part, so she wouldn't have to live in a cage. Just my guess, though.

I was a little disappointed to see that the premiere was Olivia-centric, but I can understand that in regards to sending Mariska off on maternity leave. I just hope this isn't a sign of things to come - that in her absence, it's going to be All About Elliot. I'm hopeful that this is going to be the chance for Munch and Fin to shine. But yeah, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were still shuttled to the backburner, especially with the advent of Connie Nielsen coming on to play.

It was an interesting premiere, definitely. I liked it. And it did give a plausible explanation for Olivia's absence, and left the door open for issues to arise between the characters. Well done.

Hey, swabian - did you want a recap, or did you prefer to wait until you can actually see it yourself? If you do want a recap, let me know and I'll fill you in on actual details.

In random news....I have the sinking feeling that nobody around here carries the CW. I can't find it as of yet, even on the channel that used to feature the WB. So this worries me a lot. One Tree Hill is probably the show I was looking most forward to coming back to, and if it turns out I can't watch it anymore....I'm going to be upset. At this point, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I've just missed something and am continuing to check all the channels in hopes of finding it.
