Oh, history. What a big mess. It's interesting to think how things would have been different had the Triple Entente (especially France) been a touch more lenient with Germany immediately after World War I.

I love how you characterized Germany. I think you really caught his mindset perfectly.

I honestly believe that if France was not the "kick someone while they're down" type nation, WW2 might not have even happened... just because if Germany wasn't in such disarray, the Nazi Party would not have come to power, and things would've been smoother. Maybe a war, but not a World War...

Germany is one of those characters who seems too easy in this context. I almost felt like I was doing him wrong because it was obvious. But I'm glad he came out nicely, having you say so (and since I really trust your opinion) really means a lot :D

Thank you~ ♥

I agree. Part of the reason Hitler was able to rise to power was because he preyed upon the image of a victimized Germany. There still would have been conflict had France not taken so much advantage, but it likely would not have escalated into the major World War it was.

My sentiments exactly. But then, I think everything in history happens for a reason, even if it's just that we're meant to learn from it so that we don't do it again.

Or something like that, anyways.

And yet...we never do learn from it, do we? History constantly repeats. You'd think eventually we'd learn that "Hey, this sounds like what happened a couple of decades ago. Let's, you now, not do this and try this instead."

I do agree that everything (both in history and in modern day) happens for a reason. I just wish we'd learn from the past. Things would be a much better place if we did.

*The world would be a much better place if we did.

Mom is rambling and I'm tired. Sorry if I sound incoherent XD

You sounds plenty coherent to me

I agree. So much of what is going on now is a re-run of something that happened centuries ago, maybe called by a different name, but it's still a similar or same thing.

It's funny, we study so much history and understand none of it.

My Western Civ professor last semester was very much about history repeating itself. Nearly every class he'd mention that we can find the origins of today's conflicts in history, and he would occasionally point to one moment and history and tell us exactly how it translates to modern day. He was my favorite professor and I'm a little disappointed that I don't have him for the continuation this semester :(

It is funny...especially considering the history that has been lost to the world, too. So many cultures are guilty of either not recording history in the making (such as the Native Americans who had no alphabet and could not write), or destroying anything that could go against their perfect image. Then there's the history that we just haven't figured out the code for...it's so complex and I do wish more people paid attention.

If you don't mind a quick rant, there was a guy I had a major crush on in fact, he's the only one I ever confessed my feelings for and the biggest draw back was his stance on history. He believed that it ( ... )

Aw, he really does sound like a smart, knowledgable man.

That is a little sad. It's even more sad because he's not the only one who thinks like this, and it's that ignorance that allows this these things to happen over and over again.

I'm sorry about that experience.
