Last night we ate at the Scenic Loop Cafe. The decor was a little hard to place, kind of a fusion semi-adobe architecture with Texas hill country decorations. I had quail for the first time. The weather was a little chilly but the outside tables were a nice dinning environment even though we were the only customers that were willing to brave the elements. There were a couple of barn cats living nearby that came out to visit us while we ate. By visit us I mean meow for food and then have sex on the stairs nearby. Aaaaawkward. The waitress seemed more concerned by the whole situation than we were.
I have gotten back to meditating regularly. That seems to be a good thing for my mentality. I think I might try visiting the zen group here in town, despite my misgivings after listening to their emails I receive from their mailing list. They meet tonight so I will probably give it a shot. A while back I visited a Tibetan group here in town and it didn't really seem like a good fit. I am not sure what it was I didn't like but in the end I was left feeling like I was around the same kind of people that attended the Episcopalian churches I went to as a kid, just through some strange filter.
Being a member of a Sangha is supposed to be pretty important to being a Buddhist and since I claim that term for myself when asked, I might as well figure that part out.
