I've recently been inundated with invitations to join
Facebook - not sure why, but it looks as if heaps of people are joining up now. Anyway, I'm on, and will get be putting my photos up soon...
However, I've been warning it's addictive - and it's not like I need another addictive internet pastime. I will err on the side of rudeness when people invite me to do the gimmicky stuff - sending virtual drinks, flowers and fish, except in exceptional circumstances! And I certainly won't be inviting others to compare their favorite movies with me etc (though I did choose to do that test... so you can compare if you wish).
That's because you should all be spending your time editing Appropedia and Wikipedia instead. Hey people - the gender and development material sucks on Wikipedia. Wikipedia just has the
one short paragraph I added to "Gender" - surely someone can add to that rather than choosing their favorite TV quotes on Facebook? As for
Appropedia - that's wide open, with heaps of work to do, e.g. on
Culture and development , not to mention the renewable energy or permaculture pages.
If I sound pushy, blame it on the Bataks of North Sumatra - maybe their ways are rubbing off on me :)
