Weekend arrives. (I really don't like talking about work. No one cares). So, Friday, Sept. 16... I return to the Metrodome. Why? Because I'm a glutton for pain and punishment! Twins lose 2-1 in 10 innings. My record in games I've attended this year is now 6-13. But, I'll make it to another game, just to reach 20 again; I think this will be five straight years of 20 games.
Saturday. I took Buddy for a walk, as I do pretty much every day I'm in the Twin Cities. Today, he darted after a squirrel, and he knocked my CD player out of my hand... and it shattered on the cement. Me angry! We head home. I immediately go and I buy a new one (and it was cheaper than expected!) I bought a couple new CD's to cheer me up too.
I saw "Crash." (The Maple Grove 10 is now a second-run theater). That may be the best movie so far this year, topping "Cinderella Man." Saturday night, Becca & I went to a Wild pre-season game. Dinner at Cossetta, the Italian restaurant a block from Xcel. I ate too much, and I know better. But Becca couldn't finish her lasagna, and I have that inner voice that won't let good food go to waste...
Sunday. Birthday party for my three-year-old niece. Too much preparation. Grrr.
The highlight of the weekend... is when I heard earlier in the week that Jimmy Jacobs was going to be at the Neo Pro Arena on Sunday. I made a few quick calls, and got some travel plans made to return to Faribault Sunday night. Man, that trip to Faribault is QUICK when you have a full carload of people and plenty of good conversation. Thank you Wayne, Krazy & Joey for the fun chat to and from Faribault. Gator likes my beard so much, he's growing his own! Gator is the little brother I never had!!
:)
The show was good, but it had too many screwy finishes; just not enough clean pinfalls. Joey & Krazy's tag match was the top match, too. Late night food was eaten at Taco Johns, and suddenly, we are on the road out of Faribault at 9:40 p.m., which meant I left my mom's house at 10:55, and I arrived in Chippewa Falls at 12:45.
But, I'm in good spirits today, even though I've only slept 4 1/2 hours, because a good road trip with friends, a fun after party, and some good wrestling make it all worthwhile!
If you haven't read my review of the show in Faribault, check it out at www.indywrestlingfan.tk.
Up next: The Ted Petty Invitational!! I think everyone expected Robbie Brookside to bow out of the tournament, but I'm cool with Skayde as a replacement. I just hope that is it for the last-minute dropouts. Road trip looks like me & Becca & Ann Thraxx; it should be lots of fun!
