I come across something on one of my friend's pages and it irritates me to no end. If you are on her list then you may have seen the comment. I won't drag specific names because it doesn't matter. It's the action that irritates me and I’ve heard of similar instances before.
How the hell do you call dibs on making a fashion plate?!?!????!!!!! I get, "hey I'm making that thing for the same event you are going to and I'd rather we weren’t twinkies" but just a blanket "making it someday" dibs???? This is just asinine and immature.
FUCK THAT! It's the internet and while yes costumers as a group is a fairly small bunch there are tons of similar dresses and even flat out copy cats (credited or not which is another topic). Hell, people have issues with their OWN created information being farmed out as someone elses, let alone a random period fashion plate or photo.
You can't own an image. This whole "found it first" isn't ownership of an image. To be honest, some periods there just aren’t that many sources for everyone to have one to hold and pet and name them George.
The whole thing makes me want to make the dress in question too just to be a bitch about it.
