Have I mentioned how much I love, love, love my group of friends down here in Portland? Not only are they great people, they're so much fun!
I have to give Lisa the credit for this one. My mom actually forwarded me the blurb about this event awhile ago, but I sort of ignored it at the time. Then Lisa started making the rounds via e-mail suggesting we get a big group together, and suddenly, it sounded like a whole lot of fun. Once the big group of friends dynamic was introduced, I was sold instantly :)
So tonight, about a dozen or so of us are going to get all dressed up and attend a semi-formal, black tie optional Ball at the Holiday Inn by the Bay. It's called the "Harvest Ball" as the money raised will support our Diocesan magazine, called Harvest. It's also fall, so it's doubly fitting.
7PM - social hour. I don't know when I'm arriving exactly, I'm still working that out a bit. I know some are coming closer to 8, but I'd like to get there earlier.
8PM - dinner.
After dinner until Midnight - live music courtesy of the Tony Boffa Band, dancing, and I believe, also a silent auction elsewhere.
Some of the girls have already been making Cinderella references, with Lisa joking about glass shoes, Cathy hoping her Fairy Godmother will come before 7pm, me joking to Katy that she'd better remember to leave by Midnight and not leave shoes behind unless she wants strange guys stalking her home.
Also on Wednesday, even though I'm sure the music will be rather varied, Cathy gave a bunch of us Swing and Waltz lessons, which was a lot of fun! I'd like to continue that, it seems like it would be a fun thing to be able to do.
I totally expect this to be a lot of fun! I can hardly wait. Us guys should be so lucky to have a half dozen uniformly attractive young women to chose from as our dance partners all night :)
I'll post pictures :)
