Today's conspiracy at work

Today's chapter of the "my co-workers are trying to make me fat" conspiracy is: Carrot Cake Muffins. You have no idea how much I like carrot cake.

Tomorrow should be OK, but Friday? Oh man. We're having a fall pot-luck at work, and I signed up to make my signature baked beans with applewood smoked salt pork and onions.

The problem with pot-luck luncheons though is that everybody brings enough food to feed every person there. So, if 10 people are bringing food, you end up with 10 times more food than you need. The same thing always happens at my birthday parties, which is why, when I polled my friends at Oktoberfest this year, they suggested this year's theme for food be "Central Africa."

Then, on Friday night, I'm going to a semi-formal Ball where I'm sure food will abound. My dinner choice was Baked Haddock Gruyere, which aside from the cheese sounds healthy enough. I'd better work up a sweat out on that dance floor though. Actually, it looks like I may go overnight backpacking this weekend, so I really have nothing to worry about.

Eek, it's already Wednesday, isn't it? I guess I need to go find a couple pounds of navy beans during lunch today and get them soaking tonight or at least tomorrow morning. This week is flying by...
