I spent a large portion of the day drawing a map of my nation and brainstorming place names and plot. I spent more time on the map than I wanted, and thus didn't get much writing done, but now that I have it I think it's going to save me a lot of time in the long run. It's incredibly hard to fill in back story and plot exposition without cities and locations and you know - geography. You end up with "Tessa walked for a long time and reached City One," rather than, "It took Tessa almost six hours to travel the twelve miles between Waterdale and Rodin, located on the banks of the Tiger river." Which is actually now on the banks of Zimmer Lake, but anyway, you get the point now. :)
