So I haven't updated in a while. Deal. rawr
Two things of major note: I officially am no longer a TASC employee and I went on a long over due vacation.
First item: I've been busting my butt all last week to recover and have everything ready for when I leave. Unlike some, I really wanted to leave a good impression at Mental Health Court. While stressful and sometimes really bad, over all it was a good experience, it gave me alot, and taught me alot. I really adore my coworkers and clients, but was ready to move on. I stayed the last day until 6:30 or so getting things ready, writing notes so that the system would go smoothly, and little things that 'd taken care of for so long that I was afraid that they wouldn't get done until someone took my place. My maternal instincts kicked in... I wanted my people taken care of. Unfortunately, Kady didn't make time to get the run down before I left so alot may still fall through the cracks. I start this coming up monday at the new job and while a bit scared, am also excited.
Earlier last week, though, I told David that I was a bit sad that no event for my going away had been planned. I usually do alot of that planning for our office, so when I didn't pick on anything hidden and no one asked bout doing anything, I was a bit upset, though I knew I shouldn't be. Then Wednesday Kady told me to think of a place to go to for lunch. I chosen Surin Thai, of course and David agreed to come with us. Yeah! But oh how unorganized it seemed. I was getting upset by the time 12 rolled around Friday and Kady didn't know the number to make the reservation for. David picked me up late, we couldn't find parking, and then Kady calls saying she locked her purse and keys in the office and to come let her in. Grrr...... so We come back and as I open the door..SURPRISE! There's a spread of Olive Garden foods and a bunch of my coworkers. It felt so good... so happy and silly and fun.
Saturday I went to a coworker's wedding. It was simple and nice, but at the reception, the drama and gossip reminded me of part of the reasons I'm leaving too. Some of them even said there's a high number of people looking to leave TASC. Its kinda sad to see that such a great program may collapse after being around for so long. I hope it recovers before it sinks.
TRIP: David and I had been planning a trip for a while, knowing that for three days, neither of us would be working. We'd wanted to go to the beach, but Sunny finally sold the beach house after it being on the market for a year. Then we thought about Tennessee. Cool bed and breakfast, Ruby Falls and perhaps a Winery... nice and romantic. Then at the last minute, David suggests Atlanta instead. Ok fine... so I find a few places near Atlanta, look into museums and six flags.... and as I'm about to finalize the reservations, out of curiousity, david suggests seeing if there is a winer near Atlanta.... so we do a search and find the
Chateau Elan, about 40 miles outside Atlanta. Just out of interest, we look it over and when david found the
Excalibur room, he knew we were going. Chateau Elan was great!
So, we drove over and were able to get our room early. Around 1, we had a wonderful lunch at the Fleur de Lis. Then we booked an after massage. We took a walk around the winery. After a quick shower, we had our massage. We got dressed again and had afternoon tea before going to the winery for a tasting and tour. Then we rested before dinner. Then we went down stairs to the spa again and relaxed for a while in the hot tub. Then we headed back to the room for some well deserved sleep.
The morning, we packed up, had a huge buffet breakfast of yum. And then we bought a few bottles of wine we'd tasted. We tried to go to Six Flags but they were closed. So we went to the Aquarium (BIG FISHIES) and then saw John at the hospital. Over all, a wonderful trip. more later
