Class: The article reviews went over really well. I compared two of the articles when I presented them in class and my prof was impressed. I got some good information out of the research too. We got the final last night (A week late) but that’s ok. Would have liked to have the last couple of days when I was off to work on them, but I really enjoyed the sleep and couch potato time.
And the Guild Wars.
Speaking of which, the 360 got sick. Sent it in, it got better, then sending it back. Tanner’s itching for some gaming. We've also not gotten much RPGing in either. Several games have been canceled and now Tanner's going to be STing the LARP. The LARP is good, growing and alot of new folks. Plus, we're trying to get the website for it really active.
Speaking of Tanner, a piece of the article he wrote about the Tea Party was used by the Huffington Post. He was so excited. I think its really gave him the confidence to possibly write seriously. Plus, he’s got two performances this summer and a possible spot on the improve group. Go Tanner!
We took our trip to Chattanooga Thursday. We got to the nice hotel around 3:30 and checked in. We then relaxed, checked out the place, and then went for dinner at the Broad Street Grill. On the way there, we regrettably were informed that the Warehouse Row was all but closed due to economic problems. So after some tasty food prepared by some very nice guys (we did a sampling there for dinner) we grab the free bus back. We spent the evening watching a movie and swimming in the very nice pool and hot tub.
Friday we packed in a lot. We Saw Rock City and Ruby Falls. We forgot the camera, so only got a few pics that night. I’d been before years ago, but was really nice to see them again. Before, I’d been stuck in a large school group, now we could just come and go as we wanted and could actually understand the awesomeness of the falls or the beauty of the trails. We found a couple items for mother’s day gifts and an awesome necklace for him. After that, lunch at Hamilton place where we shopped for games and a hat (Tanner finally found one!). We got back to the hotel for a brief rest before getting dressed up for the Riverboat dinner on the Southern Belle. The food was filling (carved beef and shrimp with rice) and southern. We sat on the deck, sipping mixed drinks and watching the sunset over the mountains and river. The weather was perfectly mild and the music was cheesy but humorous.
Saturday we checked out of the hotel and made the 1.5 hour drive through the Cherokee park to Ocoee rafting. The group there was mostly greek girls and boys, but we were matched up with three guys about our age that had come up for a bachelor’s weekend before one of the fellas got married. Our guide, Kenneth, was very cool and really worked with us. The weather was warm and the water icey, so wonderful. Only problem came was when the husband to be took Kenneth up on an offer to “ride the bull” which was where you sat on the front of the raft while we went through some rather rough rapids. Well, we hit an unforeseen rock as he leaned on my shoulder for support. Oops, and over we both went! By the time I surfaced and got my feet up, the other guy had gotten back in…. and the raft was quite a ways off. At first, I wasn’t that bad off, just floating. But then, we hit the rapids. I spent about half a mile going through hell of not being able to breathing on and off. I never hit a rock (I followed instructions that much) but no matter which way I turned, I could get an air pocket in the current. As this was “double trouble,” we hit the brief paused between rapids and Kenneth hauled my fat butt back into the raft. I lay there for the second part, still having problems getting a good breath as more water pours over us. But, at the next lull, I coughed, got my breath, and climbed back to my seat at the front. The guys were really supportive and cheered me on. I was scared to death, but had an awesome time and would do it again. Tanner decided to ride the bull through the last two really big drops (where I fell out last time I did the ocoee) He loved it and didn’t fall in! We got back to the center and changed into dry clothes. They take pictures at a certain part of the rapids and, while waiting, we check out the pictures…..All the ones they took were from Double Trouble… My but is lay on Kenneth’s lap, sprawling to try and get up to get a good breath. Dammit. Well, saved me 40 bucks.
So, we’re back in Alabama. Back at work. Back at the usual.
Life still damn good.
Meaningful Phrase: “We just ran the Hell’s Half Mile. Know why they call it that? Cause if you fall it, its half a mile of hell. And girl, you did it.”
