I THINK I'm finally all caught up. I've gotten more excerpt booklets printed up for this weekend's appearance at the
Collingswood Book Festival (drop on by if you're in the area), made some more beaded goodies for my next craft show, and actually gotten some words written in the WIP.

I was having some issues with the length, thinking I should be well into the climax by now, but I'm not, so I'm just gonna stop worrying and finish the dumb thing. I can fix it later, I can fix it later. I have to stop fighting it. I think it was Stephen King who said "you need to let the story be what it wants, because if you try to force it to what YOU want, it'll be crap." I'm paraphrasing, but I'm sure it was something like that. So if it's a 70,000 word novel, that's what it is. The first Harry Potter was 85,000 words, so I think I'm looking good.
And today in my in box was my invitation to
Philcon. I guess they like me enough to have me back this year. I filled out my panel requests and got that all taken care of. It's ALWAYS the weekend before Thanksgiving...which is usually around my son's birthday. Knowing this, I planned my son's birthday part for the weekend BEFORE. Originally I wanted an outdoor party, which was why we went early, in case the weather turned. But he wanted a party at the jumping place, where they have all these big inflatable things for the kids to play on. It works out.
Am I a bad parent because I'm going to a con ON my son's birthday? Actually when he's older I think he'll enjoy the con, so I'll take him, but sometimes I worry I'm being a terrible mother in order to further my own career. Not like Britney, mind you, but still. (Gag. I so don't want to talk about her - giving her media attention is just fueling her narcissicm. Like OJ.)
I think next year we'll have Ry's party the weekend AFTER Philcon, during Thanksgiving weekend, when everyone's off from school.
Oh, and over at the
IBR, there's a new poll, so check that out, will ya? I have no idea how many people visit that site, but I'm trying to keep up with the content. I have to see if Blogger supports a sitemeter.
