So what can I say? We had a terrific time, the weather was gorgeous. I have some pics, but I just don't have the energy to upload them at the moment - my allergies are sapping my energy big time.
We checked in on Wednesday, unpacked, hit the beach. The water was SO warm, the breeze was cool. Ry played in the water, and we saw some dolphins really close to the beach. So close I could see the sun glinting off their skin as they played and dove in the surf. We were planning on going to our favorite seaside restaurant for dinner, except they had a deck collapse back in July and were STILL closed. So we trekked back to the other end of the island and went to another bayside restaurant. Good food.
Thursday, we wanted to get out of the way while everyone else checked in, so we took off for Cape May. When I get the pics up, that's what they are mostly of. The Cape May lighthouse and stuff. You'll see. We had a wonderful time, again beautiful weather. Ry and Hubby spent the afternoon back down at the water near the hotel and I got some reading done. Where did we go for dinner? Oh yes...I picked a cute looking family place from the little book they give you in the hotel...and it was closed. I'm subsequently fired from choosing the dinner places. We ate up on the boardwalk, then hung around the arcade for a bit. Ice cream!
We got back to the hotel, and my purse is broken??? My cute, blue and white checked seersucker purse with the pink ribbon and the bamboo handles is missing a screw from a handle! Ack. Oh well.
Friday Ry and Hubby got up and went to the convention center to register Hubby for his meetings and to look at firetrucks and shop. I did some writing (not as much as I would have liked) and reading. Hubby and Ry came back, and Ry and Mommy were off to the craft show which was right next to the park.to shop and play. Popcorn and Sno-cone for lunch! Then swimming in the freezing, FREEZING cold pool (they turned OFF THE STUPID HEATER!) and down for a nap.
It started to rain, so order in pizza for dinner, then a brief jaunt to the boardwalk for more games. The piers were closed because of the weather, so no rides.
I woke up in the middle of the night with the indigestion from Hades. Seriously, up half the night drinking Dr. Pepper because it helped. Maybe it was the garlic butter Papa John's sent with the pizza, I dunno. I don't care, I just never want to feel like that ever again.
Saturday Hubby had to be up super early for his last meeting, Ry and I went to the local Wal-Mart, because the weather was set to get chilly and I needed sweatpants in a major way. Bought sweats, bought some other things, picked up a new purse to get my stuff around in. Come back to the hotel, empty old purse...and there's the stupid screw, in the bottom of the purse!
This is so not my weekend, is it.
But Saturday afternoon was relaxing (Mommy took a wonderful nap!) and we went to the local Italian restaurant (delish!) and had a lovely last evening on the rides pier. Ry was big enough to ride more this year than last year, and he had a blast. More ice cream and then back to the hotel to pack up a bit.
That's pretty much it. Overall it was nice, but there were moments. At least we had good weather - usually it's raining, terribly humid, or there's a hurricane. Seriously. So comparatively this was one of the best Wildwood weekends we've ever had.
Pics later this week, promise. Once my head unclogs.
