it's hot. No, I'm not being overly dramatic. I woke up at 7:15 and turned on the TV and the temp thing on the Philly morning show said...85 degreees.
EIGHTY-FIVE DEGREES at 7:15 AM????? Dear dog, that's hot. Yesterday was hot too, but not this hot. Know this about me, if you know nothing else - I don't do hot. It was more important to me to have the central A/C installed than to get a new hot water heater. I can live without hot water for the couple of days it would take me to get it replaced, but I CANNOT do heat. I melt. If it's too humid, I can't breathe. I get major headaches in severe heat. No heat for me.
Being so hot, I have to come up with new and creative ways to occupy Ry. I don't really want him to sit inside watching Spongebob for hours on end (he'd watch it all day if I let him.), and the computer occupies him for a while, but we need something else to do. So yesterday we went off to the lovely air-conditioned library. Toys for him, notebook for me to write down some scene progression for the Wizard Academies book (which still doesn't have a title), which really helped actually, and then to storytime.
I walked in the door, and the children's librarian (who knows me on sight -being a local celeb of sorts has its advantages) immediately asks me if I'm available at the end of August to come and play for their end of the summer ice cream party.
Not only am I available, says I, but I have a new book! Works all around, the date they picked I have free, and we're all set to go. I had e-mailed the other librarian prior, but hadn't heard back from her. So that's all set. I love going to the library, the nice librarian ladies always go out of their way to make me feel welcome. Last time they had the cutest crafts for the kids to do, ones that went with my book. Pretzel stick and glitter wands, color-in dragons and they made their own Talismans.
Today we're hitting the pool early. Like 9:30, which is really early for us, since we usually go closer to lunchtime. We're going early because it's hot, baby. H.O.T hot.
Keep cool, my lovelies. Tomorrow the Virtual Book Tour hits Dawno's review blog...
