Die, Hamster, Die!

So all the Christmas decorations are up. The three is decorated, on top of a big sheet of plywood covered with green felt. I had some batting lying around that makes pretty nifty snow. The sideboard in my dining room has been cleared of everyday stuff and the Santas, holiday candles, pretty plates and my lovely Lenox nativity is out. Everything but the stockings. I love the holidays, but I usually wait on those until closer to Christmas.

Yesterday, I spent five hours watching "Gone with the Wind". I had no appreciation for this movie when I was younger, but now I love it. That movie is really not about the Civil War, you know. It's about clothes. And dating, and how to be a bitch for your whole life and have everyone love you. LOL. Scarlett is the woman we love to hate, and feel sorry for all at once. Good stuff. One day I'll get around to reading the book. I started it years ago, but never finished.

There's a whole host of books I wanted to read but never have. The Oz books, for one. I know, bad fantasy writer! I don't even own copies of them. Bad, bad, bad! I have a lovely Annotated Alice, but no Oz books. One day, I suppose.

Ok, the title of the blog. There are some children's shows that I think are really cute. Curious George, Jack's Big Music Show, even Oobi has its charm. Clifford the Big Red Dog, and of course, Sesame Street. Little Einsteins is cute. The Upside-Down show has grown on me, probably because two grown men acting like idiots but not talking down to kids is entertaining.

I hate the Wonder Pets. My son loves them, and I think it's the dumbest, most annoying show ever! These stupid talking animals SING everything in the most annoying manner. The duck has a speech impediment. Well, not really, he just pronounces his r's as w's, more like a baby would. It's annoying, and personally I think if you're teaching kids, you should promote proper speech. WHY would you have a character that doesn't have proper diction??? I have enough trouble getting Ry to stop slurring his S's and getting him to prouncing certain letters properly. Why does this show reinforce something that's not right?? Ack.

So the hamster, duck and turtle can take a flying leap. I hate Wonder Pets.

children's tv, christmas, wonder pets, gone with the wind
