Today was a momentous day. I actually wrote. Didn't edit (well, I did, but that was work, not my own stuff) I didn't take notes, I wrote. Only about 500 words or so, but they were original words. I think I've got a handle on the next Library book. At least the set-up, and parts of the plot. A big piece of something came to me the other day. Something today just inspired me to work on it. So I did.
I think Return to Zandria is pretty much done. I'm ready to put my Seal of Approval on it, anyway. Kim's not done reading it, but I've finished adding my stuff, I'm just waiting for her notes. I feel like it's pretty tight, plot-wise, character-wise, and word-wise. I was skimmig it over today and it just felt right. I'm sure there are things that need tweaking, I'm sure Kim will tell me about them
But I'm ready to work on something new. Finally. It's taken me two years, pretty much, to get the last three books ship-shape.
I actually started this book a while back; I got the opening scene done, and then it kind of went south. But it's all straightened out now. It's a first draft; I'm already thinking of things I have to clean up. First drafts are always crap. I give myself permission to write crap and turn it to diamonds later.
I was actually counting how many free weekends I have before Christmas, to make sure I have enough time to finish all my gift-stuff. I do, since I know what I'm getting everyone. Almost. There are a couple of holes left to fill, but I have almost all my supplies, and some are done, so I'm in good shape.
And today we hit Sam's to get the last of the stuff we need for Ry's party next weekend. Almost. I have to go to the dollar store this week and get a couple more things.
I'm also working on the third of the Light Novels I was assigned, I have two more weeks until it's due and it's the shortest one of the bunch. Nice and steady, I'll get done in plenty of time. Once I'm paid for all this work, the holidays will be a lot brighter. I hate having to pinch pennies so close to Christmas, or decide which credit card to put stuff on, because then I'll be paying for it all year.
I'm also hoping to have more news on the book front next week. Maybe not. Stay tuned.
Oh, the Currently Reading? Another LBF author. This was one of their first books, and the cover blurb intrigued me. So I finally got a copy, and I really like it. I love a good whodunit or cozy mystery. I can't write them, I guess I'm just not that good at leaving clues in my writing. But I love to read them. This one is pretty good.
