a) I'm running out of names :) and b) I'm wondering if I shouldn't just revise it before I send it again. I really am in love with the story, but the agent had a point with the things she said.

And I am SO good at revising to notes. Scary good. Just need a point in the right direction.

No, she's got good points, at least one of which I had been considering in the six months she's had the manuscript.

It's definitely YA, definitely fairy-tale retelling, but it may lean more toward magical realism rather than fantasy. There's a little steampunk in it too, and she actually loved the setting and those steampunk elements. The writing and voice were fine, she loved the beginning. There are a couple of things she said, though, that neither I nor any of the critiquers had thought of , but which I can either fix or dump altogether.

On the other hand, there's an editor at a house who has it who requested the full and didn't seem to have a problem with those early chapters at all.

Shrug. I'm just running out of agent names...

I agree jmward. Put it aside for a few days, then go back to it. I've done that with my own writing and it really helps.
