So much has happened in the last week, and mostly I've been Twittering instead of blogging, so if you don't
follow me on Twitter, you might miss some things. Since I have Tweetdeck, it's also just easier to update my Facebook status from my desktop than log on, and I'm all about the easy.
To recap:
*Boy started First Grade last week. Loves it. I like this time of life, when they're so excited about school. I know it won't last. Today is his first full day - we'll see how he feels about it at 3: 15
* Boy played in his first Real Football Game yesterday. Didn't play the whole game, but did get some good playing time in the second half. We won, he was happy. He loves football. As soon as I get the pics off the camera, I'll put them up on Facebook.
*Still no word from Rutgers, but I imagine I'll hear something in the next week or so. Their application deadline is tomorrow. And my UMUC transcript is still not showing a degree conferred or me graduated yet. Grr...
*All the other stuff has pushed work on the WIP to the back burner. It's okay. I'm nearly at 15,000 words, and the nine-block plot has me right on target for an 80K novel. After I'm done with block three, I'm going to try going back and polishing a bit. I was looking at the plot and realized that I need to change something. It's small, but with big implications later on, so it needs to be fixed now. If I can polish like this, in sections, I'll have a really strong book the first time around. I'm really liking the nine-block plot thing.
*The Mirror of Yu-Huang is still in limbo. Hopefully will have news on that next week. Meegting with editor again on Sunday after I return from vacation.
*It's time for our annual trip to Wildwood. And of course the weather is going to be crappy. So instead of walking the beaches or swimming, in the hotel pool, I'll be inside writing or watching movies or reading. All of which are pleasant activities, made more pleasant by an ocean view.
*I've come to the conclusion that the Wii Fit board is not the most accurate at telling me my weight. I moved the board away from the TV and lost three pounds. Weird thing. Maybe I should actually, yanno, buy a scale.
*My prom date found me on Facebook. That's a whole other post about reflecting about high school, tied to Boy's current football experience and how life is strange.
*I didn't get a contracted sub job this year, because the people who had them last year kept them. Knowing how things usually work out in ways I don't expect, especially when I plan, I'm taking this in stride and anxiously awaiting the Universe's Alternate Plan. In the meantime, trying to enjoy my semester off and get lots done before Grad School starts in January, wherever I end up.
