Did you miss me? I've been buried under a pile of holiday wrapping paper, work, studying, and writing. Monday...I took the car to the inspection station. It failed because I didn't have a permit for my husband's blue light. Couldn't I just take it out and you pass me? No. No, you have to drive out of the inspection station, take the light out, THEN come back around again.
So I did. I plunked the thing into the trunk and went round a second time. Twenty minutes of my life I'll never get back. But the old girl passed, so I'm safe for another two years.
Tuesday I watched TIN MAN, that I had DVR'd, and started wrapping gifts. TM was okay...nothing great. I liked the little twists they put on the story, but overall it fell a bit flat. Good effects though, and the tin man's story line was actually the best one. I got about half the wrapping done. I still have gifts coming in from Amazon, and a couple of things I need to get to complete the job, so the wrapping won't be done for a bit.
Wednesday...work. Last minute work. We managed to fly out the door in 40 minutes. Amazing. Wednesday night, Hubby and I braved the wilds of Toys R Us to get Ry a new bike, and we tried to find some Transformers, specifically Optimus Prime, which is the one thing Ry really wants. No dice. Not even at Target. I managed to find on from a vendor on Amazon, and it'll be here by Christmas. Santa is amazing.
Thursday and Friday - work. Eighth grade girl drama in study hall. Nearly a girl fight. No concept of sarcasm. Gods deliver me from the eighth grade.
Which they will, because I'll be back in my nice safe sixth grade class on Monday.
Last night I buzzed over to a local High School for their Band Parents Ice Cream Social. Dani and I set up our little stand of books and at first I wasn't sure I was going to do anything. Which would have been okay, since I didn't pay anything to be there. But in the end, I sold four copies of RTZ (which means I have precious few left in stock) and a couple of beaded bracelets and book thongs.
This weekend I have nowhere to go, but plenty to do. A couple of gifts to put last minute touches on, more wrapping, and WRITING. The short story for BAF-2 is slowly taking shape, and my editor just delivered to me second round edits. Which don't look bad, just cleaning. Apparently I did a good job the first time. I have a knack for fixing things up just the way editors want. If they give me some direction, I can make it just right.
I still haven't written the treatment, but I'm working on it. I need a problem for them to fix. I mean, I've only got 42 minutes to get and solve the thing, so it can't be anything too difficult. I have some character drama in mind, some conflict, but no problem. It'll come to me, I'm sure.
Have a great weekend!
