The Good Thief's 15 Minutes...and an essay on great acting

Oct 18, 2003 00:18

Not too much to report tonight. Decent day at work, with a couple of amusing moments. I was working with my 7th period class on an assignment, and I had my work showing up on all of their monitors. I made a lot of typos, and the kids loved it ( Read more... )

Gary Oldham is one of the most underrated actors of our time. Who's your favorite director of all time???

My favorite director of all time is the late, great Hal Ashby.

Aloha,

Jeff

edward norton is great. i was impressed with his retarded role in the score. and!! his cold-hearted role as a skinhead in american history x. and and in fight club where he played a nutty antisocialist with an identity disorder. awesome actor, indeed.

I don't think that I have ever heard anyone say a bad word about Ed Norton..that alone is great evidence of his charisma.

...now if we can just get rid of Pauly Shore.

"If they'll pay $4, they'll pay $5".

Amen brother!

I know what you mean about the Oldham thing; sometimes he chews on the scenery a bit too much for me but I'd never avoid a movie because of him. Oh-except w/ "Oldham as hero" perhaps. Hm. Maybe an "anti-hero?"

Indeed Ed Norton is a god.

Nothing like taking a mercenery approach to fundraising *g*

About the only thing that Oldham was in that I was not able to make it all the way through was Lost in Space...way too cheesy of a film, and it surprised me that some semi respected actors attached themselves to this turkey.

One of the things that I really like about Norton is that it would be fairly easy to own everything that he has been in...it would be a lot tougher for some of my other fave actors, like de Niro or James Cagney...doesn't mean that I won't try, though.

The kids do live to watch adults mess up...I certainly did in my day.

That amazes me that someone so close to Hollywood is movie illiterate....you need to get caught up somehow. Maybe when you come here I can turn you loose with my collection for a bit.

Oldman wasn't bad in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. I love that movie. And he'll be coming out soon as Sirius Black in Harry Potter. Certainly villainous but not exactly a villain. I'm really looking forward to that role!

And Edward Norton rules. American History X was amazing. *drool*

Heil Smoochy! Heil Smoochy! Heil Smoochy!

I think that the jury is out on Norton and Oldman...they are the men.

That movie didn't change the world, but it did make a dent.
