I'm praying.

Given that she's 13 and he's "quite a bit older," his having sex with her may be considered rape, as she's below the age of consent.

You'll have to look up the exact laws in your state (especially if the other youth is also a minor... whether it's rape depends on the laws and the age differences), but a 13 year old being pressured into sex by an older person makes my hackles rise.

If the other youth is over 18, call the police.

Yes! This!!

First of all, I'll be praying. I'm so, so sorry she has to go through this.

I recommend "Do You Think I'm Beautiful?" by Angela Thomas. Really powerful book even if it's more about your feeling of self-worth than sexual purity.

That poor girl :( I'm glad you're able to be there for her.

Thank you for your prayers.

I don't know the age of her ex-boyfriend, just that he was in high school. I've suggested pressing charges to her foster mother, but she totally refuses, as does the girl. So. ::shrug:: It's a sucky situation, and I'm kind of stuck. I'm trying to do everything I can from my position.

I think the lowest age of consent in any state is 16.... If I'm wrong, I'm probably still darn close. And doctors are now finding that sex before 16 for a female interferes physically with brain development. Maybe the laws will start to reflect that, and I certainly hope so.

And even if the guy is under 18, but older than her, it's still illegal and the cops can be called.
