Books For The Contemplative Life
Can anyone recommend good books written by or about monks and the monastic life? Either nonfiction or fiction will do, but I'm particularly interested in books that go into depth about the interior lives of monks, such as The Practice of the Presence of God about Brother Lawrence, or The Seven Storey Mountain by Thomas Merton. Also, can anyone recommend some fairly recent books on the practice and benefits of the contemplative life outside the context of monasteries?
